In this episode of 5 min Fridays with coach Myrna, I share a technique for dealing with automatic negative thoughts (ANT's) called stop drop and roll. If you have ever been bothered by depression, fear, mental stress or any other negative emotion. Listen to the end to learn how to stop these thoughts, drop all the weight of these emotions and roll with the punches. I provide actionable strategies to overcome mental turmoil and find peace.
The concept of "Stop, Drop, and Roll" was introduced by the Red Cross for fire safety but can be used as a crucial methodology not just for physical fires but also within the battleground of our minds. Drawing parallels between combating fires and managing mental stress, coach Myrna explains how to regain mental control and clarity. She emphasizes the importance of stopping the onslaught of racing thoughts fueled by Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTs), highlighting the illusion of fear and false evidence appearing real.
She further explores the need to "Drop" burdensome thoughts and emotions that weigh us down, advising listeners to let go of grudges, fear, and self-doubt.
