This is a visualisation exercise all about JOY.
What could a day filled with moments of joy look like?
It's important for us to feel joy because it's signalling something to us; this is how I want to live my life. By feeling into that sense of joy, it shows us that we are living according to what's important to us, our values and our sense of just 'being'.
When we lack joy in our lives it can feel like we are lost or stuck.
We can seek joy in all aspects of our lives, but we rarely take a moment to reflect on whether there is 'more' we can do to feel joy, whether that's a small thing like having a cup of coffee in the morning, reading or something bigger like sharing our voice in the workplace where it aligns to our sense of identity.
Joy is not all belly laughs, but it can be a lovely thing to experience.
This 'DILO' exercise - Day in the Life of Joy - is designed to give you some insights. What is it that makes you smile, or gives you a rush of dopamine?
And what is it you can see yourself doing that could give you joy, but that is missing in your life.
Noticing in this exercise that it's not about having all the answers, or wanting to visualise a 'perfect' day. Whatever you visualise; use it as data to support you. Keet doing the things that bring you joy and make space for them; and for those things missing, asking ourselves the question - is it time for changes?
There is empowerment in this visualisation. We have the choice to make changes and sometimes this can lead to bigger questions about our identity and who we are. Indeed, it can be a great insight into how we want to show up for ourselves as well as for others. But focus on you.
Prioritise yourself without feeling guilt... and see what comes up.
