“That's taxpayer’s money that is going to support research and development and pilot projects to develop a food system that is based on environmental destruction and greed and disregard for animals, fish, and any of the other marine mammals that might be around it.” - Andrianna Natsoulas Andrianna Natsoulas is the campaign director for Don't Cage Our Oceans, an organization that exists to keep our oceans free from industrial fish farms. Offshore finfish farming is the mass cultivation of finfish in marine waters, in underwater or floating net pens, pods, and cages. Offshore finfish farms are factory farms that harm public health, the environment, and local communities and economies that rely on the ocean and its resources. Don’t Cage Our Oceans are a coalition of diverse organizations working together to stop the development of offshore finfish farming in the United States through federal law, policies, and coalition building. And, although it is not yet happening, right now the US Administration and Congress are promoting this kind of farming, which would be nothing short of disastrous for the oceans, the planet and the people and animals who live here. dontcageouroceans.org…

In this episode of The Active Life Podcast , the hosts dive deep into the critical mindset shift from victim mentality to a creator mindset. They explore how our habitual thought patterns shape our perspectives and behaviors, breaking down the key differences between these two approaches to life. By examining the "Drama Triangle" and its inverse, the "Empowerment Triangle," they highlight how individuals often play roles of victim, hero, or villain—and how they can shift toward becoming creators, coaches, and challengers. Listeners will learn how the victim mentality keeps people stuck in fear, powerlessness, and dependence on external circumstances, while the creator mindset fosters responsibility, action, and personal growth. The discussion also uncovers the hidden dangers of the "hero" role, especially in coaching and leadership, and offers insights into how real empowerment comes from guiding, rather than saving, others. Through practical examples, including a powerful personal story of resilience in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, this episode offers a framework for recognizing where we stand and how we can intentionally shift toward an empowered, action-driven mindset. To wrap up, the hosts provide actionable steps for listeners: identifying where they currently operate within these mental frameworks, finding mentors or coaches who can guide them, and embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. In this episode, Cody and Larry explore why Doctors of Physical Therapy (DPTs) are increasingly drawn to Active Life’s unique approach. Many DPTs feel constrained by traditional clinical roles that focus primarily on “Activities of Daily Living” (ADLs), such as basic mobility and pain management, rather than supporting clients in achieving higher levels of functional and recreational goals. The conversation highlights how Active Life fills this gap by training DPTs to address “Activities of Daily Interest” (ADIs), which empower clients to live fuller, more active lives. Cody and Larry also discuss the financial and personal frustrations faced by many DPTs. These professionals often enter the field with high hopes for meaningful, fulfilling work, only to find themselves burdened by student loans and confined within clinical structures that limit their earning potential and autonomy. Active Life’s model offers DPTs a pathway to more fulfilling work that aligns with their passion for helping clients achieve real, lasting outcomes beyond what typical clinical settings allow. The episode closes with an invitation for DPTs and other clinicians to consider the benefits of joining Active Life. Cody emphasizes that Active Life’s curriculum offers DPTs the skills and support needed to transition from a conventional clinical role to a more entrepreneurial, client-centered approach. This shift not only enhances DPTs' professional lives but also allows them to make a lasting impact on their clients’ lives.
