One day friend invited me to a Pilates class – which I honestly thought was a late-night infomercial product. I was shocked after that class to find out that I loved it! I started taking a Pilates teacher training certification on nights and weekends – which is really where my life began to change. After my certification I got a teaching position at a large, internationally-known fitness club in LA. Within a few weeks I had a full teaching schedule when my manager pulled me aside and asked me what I was doing that allowed me to fill my schedule. It dawned on me that I was using retail sales tactics. I knew how to talk to my clients, to understand what they wanted, and to sell it to them. I was just selling Pilates workouts now instead of thousand-dollar handbags.
