Everyone is on their healing journey that involves recovery from traumatic experiences or elements that may be related to how one deals with conflict. Cultural differences, gender biases, socio-economic factors, and family of origin – all play a role in developing our conflict resolution style.
Conflict is a part of everyday living and necessary for growth. Conflict can be a source of adding new value and meaning to any relationship if handled healthily. . During the healing process, engaging with the pain (that a conflict may trigger) instead of avoiding it would be beneficial. Having a genuine conflict resolution style instead of compromise is essential to committed relationships and enhances the relationship's quality.
Reconciliation is possible. However, the choice is ours to select a healthy and intentional path to resolve conflict. Discussing conflict is constructive and provides a positive opportunity for understanding and growth.

In this episode of the WHoly Mom Chat, Jenny sits down with Dr. Jen Ripley to discuss conflict resolution in our relationships, especially marriage. They discuss the L.O.V.E. Method and why forgiveness is so important.

Listen in as we talk to learn more about:

  • Dr. Jen Ripley shares her journey and her background in psychology + counseling
  • The L.O.V.E. Method
  • Dr. Ripley shares practical tips for utilizing the LOVE Method
  • The importance of the role of forgiveness and reconciliation in relationships

We are all on our own healing journey. We can be instruments of peace, joy, and support to each other while we process healing together. May we seek the help we need to choose restoration, reconciliation, and healing over violence, avoidance, brokenness, and living in survival mode.

Jennifer Ripley, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Virginia and is a Professor at Regent University. She promotes healthy families in church communities around the world. Dr. Ripley also directs the Hope Project, a long-term clinical research study of the Hope approach to couple therapy, which has seen over 500 couples demonstrating clinical efficacy in various ways with student leadership. Her students learn the Hope approach to provide therapy to couples in the Psy.D. program’s internal clinic and advanced students are selected to provide supervision. Ripley is an extrovert who thrives on relationships with students and colleagues. She also loves a good theology discussion, wrestling with some of the most challenging issues in Christian integration today, meditative prayer, and analyzing data.
