Hello everyone, and welcome to week 22 of The Stiicky Eddie Podcast! I am your host, Chelsea.
John is one of the co-hosts of the A is for Alcoholic podcast (https://www.aisforalcoholic.com/about-us) and is a filmmaker, writer, actor, and artist. For the better part of 20 years, John was a chronic drinker. The product of a broken home, his own father suffered various ailments stemming from childhood diseases, and eventually became an emotionally, mentally, and physically abusive alcoholic. This trauma infused not only John’s own curiosity about substances, but also his massively creative and artistic abilities. However, as is the case with so many talented artists, sometimes the substances which we believe are providing the courage to create become the roadblock to actual success and freedom.
John has survived some very scary and intense moments and is not only articulate and witty, but truly knowledgeable and invested in helping others find their own path to recovery. I hope you enjoy this candid conversation as much as we did- it was such an honor and a pleasure to learn more about John, his work, and the addiction/recovery podcasting realm.
