Buckle in with Jules and Day as they spend time discussing the concept of nervous system regulation in this episode. We open up about our qualifications and experiences in dealing with the nervous system. We take a deep dive into the nervous system discussing stress responses like fight, flight, freeze, and fawn. We emphasise the importance of learning tools and strategies to regulate the nervous system and to avoid dysregulation. A hot topic where we discuss the effects of a dysregulated nervous system, such as mental health issues and self-sabotage. We mention the use of toxic habits many of us use at some stage, as a way to try to regulate the nervous system. We highlight the importance of finding healthier coping mechanisms. We cannot emphasise enough, the need for therapy and professional support in regulating the nervous system and feeling safe in one's own body. We list some hot tips in our toolkit for both staying regulated and when to calm us in moments of stress.
We believe strongly in the importance of holding onto love and light instead of fear, and the role of the ventral vagus in calming the nervous system.
