Rus' interest in sports and nutrition started early. During his teen years, the 15-year-old became fascinated by how diet and exercise interact to impact performance. Unlike many teens, Rus took a scholarly approach - reading and self-experimenting to understand this relationship. His curiosity led him to carefully plan multiple daily meals aimed at strategic fueling. Rus also explored various fasting regimes and even a months-long vegetarian diet.

These self-experiments allowed Rus to refine his knowledge of his body's nutritional needs to optimize sports performance. Through systematic trial-and-error, he translated this enthusiasm into practical know-how and personal growth well beyond his years without the impulse of health problems.
