Boston, MA - Food Evidence, co-founded by Dr. Marianella Herrera with her partner, Dr. Virginia Tijerina Walls, is a beacon of innovation and advocacy in global nutrition, humanitarian nutrition, and food security. As a recognized professor at Framingham State University, Dr. Herrera is committed to advancing the dialogue around food quality, human rights, and nutrition education on an international scale. Dr. Marianella Herrera’s journey began in Venezuela, where she earned her medical degree from Central University. Early in her career, Dr. Herrera worked as a primary care physician in low-income areas, where she quickly realized the profound impact of nutrition on health outcomes. “As a medical doctor, I found myself helpless against malnutrition and obesity due to a lack of nutritional training,” she recalls. This gap in knowledge fueled her pursuit of a PhD in nutrition, public policies and food security. Now Dr. Herrera is positioned as a global advocate for nutrition and human rights. Dr. Herrera’s diverse experiences, including her studies in Boston and work with humanitarian groups in Venezuela, laid the groundwork for navigating the complex layers of global hunger and nutrition challenges. “Hunger today is a multifaceted issue, not limited to food distribution; it’s interwoven with cultural, economic, and environmental factors,” Dr. Herrera explains. Food Evidence: Bridging Knowledge and Action Food Evidence was born from a dire need to provide accurate information and actionable solutions to global nutrition challenges. The consulting firm focuses on dispelling misinformation about food and nutrition, empowering consumers to make informed decisions. “Our goal is to address the complexities that impact food consumption and improve public understanding through accurate communication,” explains Dr. Herrera. The organization collaborates with agricultural agencies and corporations to address soil degradation and climate change’s impacts on food production. Their research and advocacy emphasize sustainable practices while recognizing the role of corporations in shaping food systems. Promoting a Global Perspective on Nutrition Dr. Herrera’s work at Framingham State University provides a platform to educate students on global nutrition issues, emphasizing the importance of cultural sensitivity in nutritional interventions. “Understanding the diverse backgrounds and needs of migrant populations is vital,” Dr. Herrera asserts, highlighting the difference between food security issues in the U.S. and those in countries like South Sudan or Venezuela. Through Food Evidence, Dr. Herrera also addresses the need for balanced diets and the role of processed and fortified foods in combating malnutrition. “This is not about promoting one type of diet over another but finding holistic, culturally sensitive solutions to meet nutritional needs,” she emphasizes. Advocating for Education and Sustainable Practices A critical aspect of Dr. Herrera’s advocacy is education. She believes that enhanced nutrition education, particularly about the benefits and complexities of plant-based diets, is crucial for better health outcomes. “We need to inform people about the full spectrum of their nutritional choices, including the benefits and limitations of plant-based diets,” she explains. Food Evidence also explores the potential of bio-fortification and responsible food processing as tools to address nutrient deficiencies. “With an ever-growing global population, science and innovation are vital to ensuring food security and nutritional adequacy,” Dr. Herrera notes. As Food Evidence continues to champion integrated solutions for nutrition challenges, the firm remains committed to influencing policy, changing perceptions, and fostering a more equitable global food system. “Our mission is to inspire a movement where informed consumers and responsible corporations work together to achieve sustainable nutrition solutions,” Dr. Herrera concludes. Albany, NY - Michael Ettinger is a consummate professional who has been named among the top elder law attorneys by several media and authorities. He is recognized not only for his particular knowledge, but his ability to deal tactfully with families at a tender crossroads in their lives—when they are sick or aging, and looking for ways to protect themselves, their assets, and their family’s interests. He and his team handle all the minutiae that help people plan for disability and Medicaid, while keeping control of their assets. Everyone needs a plan, he notes, and it should be one that they understand. “Elder Law estate planning is an extremely satisfying practice when done right. We can provide clients with gratification and peace of mind. By emphasizing trusts over wills, we help people preserve their assets from probate delays and expenses, while making sure all is not lost to nursing home costs or taxes.” Michael Ettinger was admitted to the bar in 1980. He received two law degrees from McGill University in Canada, one in French Civil Law and one in English Common Law. He then, proceeded to obtain his Master of Laws degree from the prestigious London School of Economics. Mr. Ettinger chose the elder law specialty because of its human side. He has become a top attorney in that sector, establishing his firm in 1991, and currently has 12 offices throughout NY State (Hudson Valley, Capital District, Staten Island, Long Island, Rockland County and Westchester County.). The law firm is committed to defending client’s rights, providing timely and accurate legal information, and ensuring safety and security in a changing world. Michael Ettinger is President, and he leads a team of eight lawyers and seventeen support staff. The law practice is distinguished by offering a free review every three years, building long-term relationships and offering certain services without a fee (such as phone calls and emails.) There is an initial consultation, then a second consultation, and no retainer is taken when the planning begins. Fees are only payable upon completion of the plan. This ensures happier clients that feel a sense of control. This client-centric approach is atypical in the legal field. In addition to other distinctions and awards, attorney Ettinger published the third edition of the definitive guidebook for those older adults looking out for their families. Ettinger Law Firm’s Guide to Protecting your Future is available for download through the law firm website, trustlaw.com, as well as on Amazon.com. This book helps people to live healthily as long as possible, to feel comfortable and supported much the way a life coach would, and to help people understand their family’s complete planning needs. The book also includes a whole section on emotions and all the life dramas people might be going through, such as a divorce, a deceased spouse/child, a mental decline, or even substance abuse. That is why he says that the social work has to be done before the legal work, and they keep a box of tissues on hand in every office area. Attorney Ettinger says he “loves peoples” and is always accessible, unusual for a top tier executive. He relates to people soul-to-soul, not lawyer to client, and that makes it safe for them to share uncomfortable truths. Families can be as different as snowflakes, and no two solutions are ever the same. For instance, someone might want to protect their sibling, who is 70 and lives alone, or plan structured payouts for an irresponsible niece. Many people think winning in life is about status or money but in truth, Ettinger says, the holy grail is peace of mind, and the Ettinger Law Firm delivers that. Their practice areas include all aspects of elder law and estate planning, such as the components of a plan, second marriage planning, plans for same sex couples, irrevocable asset protection trusts, business succession, Medicaid planning strategies, long-term care funds, estate tax savings and general wills. Michael Ettinger has authored articles for a diverse range of publications including the New York Bar Journal. He was honored by Who’s Who in 2024 and named Attorney of the Year for 2025 by the International Association of Top Professionals. Stepping up to the mic with Jim Masters and Doug Llewelyn of Close Up Radio is the latest feather in his cap. For more information on Michael and the Ettinger Law Firm, please visit www.trustlaw.com…

St. Louis, MO - Karen Frank Barney, an accomplished author and esteemed Occupational Therapist specializing in aging adults, unveils the release of the second edition of her compelling new work, “Occupational Therapy with Aging Adults: Promoting Quality of Life through Collaborative Practice.” This innovative book, including 82 global authors and meticulously crafted for healthcare professionals and caregivers, offers a comprehensive review of the aging-related changes and an insightful exploration of how universal design concepts can dramatically enhance the living environments of individuals across all ages and abilities. In her latest endeavor, Barney takes readers beyond the Americans with Disabilities Act to introduce universal design—a philosophy that promotes the creation of spaces that are accessible and beneficial for all individuals, regardless of their age, size, or ability. Unlike traditional architectural practices that focus solely on compliance with mandatory codes, universal design seeks to build environments that are inherently inclusive, empowering individuals to live independently and comfortably. As Barney explains, “Universal design is about making beautiful, functional spaces that empower everyone, regardless of age or ability, to participate fully in life.” Through her expertise, she shines a light on practical applications of these concepts, such as installing pull-out shelves and easy-reach lighting, which improve accessibility in homes and public spaces alike. A passionate advocate for aging adults, Barney draws from her professional experience and personal challenges to inform her work. She shares anecdotes about the difficulties of navigating spaces designed without inclusivity in mind. Her commitment to universal design principles is reflected in her efforts to influence the design of her own combination condominium and hotel environment, ensuring doorways and other features accommodate all individuals. Emphasizing the tangible benefits of inclusive design, Barney discusses how these principles have already made significant improvements in public spaces in St. Louis, such as the Soldiers Memorial Military Museum, and Gateway Arch Museum. These projects illustrate the potential for universal design to enrich the experiences of people of all ages and abilities, providing a more welcoming and accommodating environment for everyone. In addition to promoting universal design, Barney’s book addresses broader societal issues affecting aging adults, including ageism. She advocates for cultural change to embrace and support the growing population of older adults, challenging stereotypes and promoting policies that foster inclusivity. The book delves into gerontological occupational therapy, a field that Barney has dedicated her career to advancing. It includes a comprehensive overview of the global aging landscape and uses data to depict demographic shifts towards older populations and the resulting societal implications. “Occupational Therapy with Aging Adults” serves as a vital resource for healthcare practitioners, architects, city planners, and anyone interested in creating inclusive spaces. Barney will host a reception for authors on February 22nd, bringing together contributors and readers to honor the diversity of ideas and collaboration that have shaped the book. Reflecting on this event, she notes, “While many authors don’t expect recognition, this gathering celebrates the hard work and passion each contributor has poured into this project. Our authors hail from various cultures, further enriching the perspectives presented in the book.” In a world where aging populations are becoming more prominent, “Occupational Therapy with Aging Adults” delivers timely insights and practical solutions for fostering environments that support everyone. The book not only champions the universal design movement but also calls for a collective societal effort to re-imagine spaces that uphold dignity and independence for all individuals. Karen Frank Barney, through dedication and pioneering work, inspires change and sets a new standard for inclusivity in our built environment. “Occupational Therapy with Aging Adults: Promoting Quality of Life through Collaborative Practice” is now available in major bookstores and online platforms. Littleton, CO -- Dr. Zandra D. Harris is a woman who has been honored numerous times for her career achievements, appearing before on our podcasts and in Who’s Who volumes. Her career began in the aerospace industry, where she acquired successive positions and authority, including managing and developing the company workforce. In 2010, she advanced her career with a doctoral degree (in Management). Then, in 2013, Dr. Harris attained certification as a professional life coach, a natural extension of her ability to help people believe in themselves and plan their goals and growth. She has learned many modalities in the coaching field and is especially known for the energy tool for which her P-NRGY practice is named. The P stands for Positive , and this formula emphasizes the positive in every life situation. “Take, for example, the recent wildfires in California. We cannot control what happened, but we can control our emotional response. Instead of feeling devasted over the loss, you can be grateful that you still have the physical ability to look for a new place, or the financial ability to buy food, or be grateful that your family is still together.” Her coaching strategies often triumphed, including facing grief, loss, and stressful situations. Positive energy also helps us attract the right partner, show up as our best selves at work, and achieve success in our missions. It is like an internal, untainted voice, providing guidance and confidence to unleash our full potential. Energy awareness coaching also helps regulate our emotions and achieve heightened consciousness. Dr. Harris emphasizes that it is possible to move from a state of anxiety to one of joy but that there is a process to it. When we repeat behaviors, they become who we are, but what if we dropped one that is not working out? What if we paid closer attention to the emotions and behaviors we want to have? “There is really power in you to change anything.” Because of these empowering philosophies, Dr. Harris was invited back for another interview and to participate in the Empowering Women feature. The P-NRGY name is derived from a life-changing book that she read by Lynn Taggart. The Field--The Quest for The Secret Force of The Universe addressed the energy within us and the power of our emotions. Realizing that fear does not come out of the blue and that if we can consciously become aware of its root, we can deal with it better is at the crux of Dr. Harris’ coach's work. Dr. Harris utilizes various tools to help individuals explore their moments of stress and joy. One such tool is Laurel Mellin’s Spiral Up concept, which aids in this process. Then there is the awareness formula from her own dissertation consisting of E2 + C4 (the 2 E’s are Emotion and Energy awareness (and the 4 C’s are Conscious awareness, Choice, Commitment, and Change) used for figuring out what is going on inside and arriving at your energy potential. It is fascinating how the energy in the room shifts when the power of vitality replaces an inner fear. The essence of Dr. Harris’ coaching is realizing that fear does not come out of the blue and that if we can consciously become aware of its roots, we can better deal with the situation. Dr. Harris retired from her former career in December 2024 and now devotes herself full-time to her positive energy coaching and highly empowering work. The chance to reach and empower women at such a crossroads motivates her. She feels that energy is our emotions in action, the common core in us all, and the one element of this universe that can never be turned off, growing stronger with repeated focus. Hear more of her wise words in the podcast. For more information about Dr. Harris and her Life Coaching visit: www.p-nrgycoaching.com…
BOULDER, CO -- Naomi Hoshino Hori is the owner of a practice called Holding Light Productions that has many facets with an underlying theme: finding our balance and joy. She is recognized as a teacher, speaker, healer, and intuitive, using diverse tools and techniques to get to the heart of what has dimmed our spark. Naomi helps people to raise their vibrational energy, shift perspective, and discover a renewed enthusiasm for life. Naomi learned valuable lessons about spiritual surgery and soulful healing from a scary medical experience she had back in 2005. She continues to practice divine and healing arts while also staying true to other creative passions, such as music, and she is active as a singer/songwriter and on the piano. Naomi first started playing at only seven years old, and has performed at many clubs, parties, and restaurants since. She also uses her talent in the LA film industry. She wrote one of the segments for Kurt Mason’s upcoming film, Sepulveda Pass . A song that she composed will be in Kurt Mason’s film. She is also currently working on a new screenplay. Naomi has been a guest on this show before and has returned as part of the Empowering Women series. Many of her gifts and tools are designed for empowerment, such as various healing techniques including spiritual surgery, deprogramming, relationship healings and readings, and grounding. These are all designed to raise the energy and light that humans are naturally made of. “We are all made up of light and love, and our bodies and spirits have the light within. I hold space for others so that they can rediscover that light. Sometimes we need support to spend our time being less anxious and more amused.” Naomi is also intuitive. Ever since childhood she knew things that hadn’t been expressed. She says she was an energetic sponge and sometimes absorbed people’s pain or negative thoughts into her body. She didn’t always want or understand such feelings. Later in life she learned to turn off the clairvoyance whenever she was not in an active session or reading. Learning to help people without taking in toxic energies was initially challenging. In her new podcast with the radio hosts, Naomi talks about what that felt like. She also talks about upcoming classes, such as one from The Love Academy which focuses on love and more loving encounters. How to choose the right partner and spouse is one aspect of that curriculum, along with the dynamics of spiritual love and sex. Naomi also addresses how to remove the energies that get us stuck in relationships or behaviors. “A lot of times when we allow true and radical transformation within ourselves, we must let go of old patterns, limiting beliefs, and unhealthy habits, like drinking or addictions. In a toxic relationship, the one partner must get rid of their abuser. To move forward, we have to believe that we deserve it. We also must let go of what no longer serves us, and step into more of who we are as a soul.” Naomi has had many complex client relationships, often working with someone for years, and reading from afar. She hosted two seasons of an Internet TV broadcast called HeartSpeak with Naomi Horii, and people as far away as Greece, Germany, England, Italy, the Philippines, India, Mali, and Denmark. Most recently she has been delving into her creativity. Everything Naomi does comes from a place of love. This includes teaching people how to use their innate vibration of love to rebalance their health and life, and receive spiritual counsel related to unconditional love. Naomi has countless ways of reaching us at a deep and sensitive level and triggering our natural ability to heal. By validating people’s feelings and energy, she is making a marked difference in our collective consciousness. Learn more about what she has accomplished and plans for this new year by listening to the two-part podcast. Santa Fe, NM - Healing the Scars, a pioneering venture founded by Raphael Weisman, is redefining the intersections of art, healing, and spirituality. With a rich life journey, spanning continents, Weisman draws upon his vast background as an instrument artisan, energy healer, and author to offer a unique blend of services and insights designed to nurture the human spirit and body. Raphael Weisman’s journey is as varied and rich as the instruments he crafted. Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Weisman’s early life was steeped in music, literature, and a passion for exploring the metaphysical. This foundation significantly shaped his future, leading him from the Israeli Army to the Hebrew University, where he embraced academic studies in English Literature, Music, and Philosophy. This eclectic background paved the way for Weisman’s foray into crafting traditional instruments, turning a simple fascination into a thriving vocation. His journey eventually led him to London, where Weisman’s skills flourished in the early music renaissance scene of the 1970s. Specializing in Renaissance and Baroque instruments such as lutes and vihuelas, his craftsmanship attracted clientele eager for authentic, meticulously-made instruments. Faithful to the Craft and Community In the United States, Weisman’s proficiency expanded into harp-making as part of a growing movement that recognized the instrument’s healing potential, notably therapeutic harps. His pioneering work with the pentatonic scale fostered a sense of community through music, enabling families and schools (notably Waldorf schools) to create harmonious environments. “I’ve always wanted to build harps, and being part of the therapeutic harp movement was like coming home. Crafting these instruments allowed me to contribute to healing and comfort early in my career,” shares Weisman. Instrument Artistry Meets Energy Healing—The Path of the Spiritual Warrior Beyond his craftsmanship, Weisman is a dedicated energy healer and channeler. His work is rooted in practices aimed at raising spiritual awareness and personal growth. His book, “The Path of the Spiritual Warrior,” serves as a manual for personal and collective ascension. Drawing from channelings and teachings received from various spiritual beings and guides, Weisman shares his experience with an entity known as “Old Chinese,” a Taoist figure from his earlier studies in London. “The Path of the Spiritual Warrior” outlines practices for raising one’s vibration and embracing the New Earth. Weisman’s teachings emphasize the importance of positive thinking, personal examination, and alignment with universal laws (including the Law of Attraction). The book shows readers how to cultivate a life of balance, promoting self-awareness, healing, and spiritual growth through practical exercises and meditation practices. Weisman’s healing services intertwine energy healing modalities such as The Emotion, Body and Belief Codes, HeartThread, Source Light healing with Spiritual Guidance. Often his sessions integrate intuitive guidance, ancestral healing, and psychic insights, offering clients a comprehensive, enriching and profound experience. Visionary Projects and Future Endeavors A visionary at heart, Raphael is a staunch advocate for creating communities that resonate with healing and sustainable living. He envisions global centers where multiple healing modalities address the traumas of those affected by war, violence and abuse. “The scars run deep, and combined methods of healing are essential to addressing the comprehensive needs of those seeking solace,” Weisman asserts. Well-versed in the practical application of metaphysical teachings, Weisman hopes to establish land-based communities integrating the “old skills of the village.” These communities will serve as sanctuaries where people can learn, heal, and reconnect with nature. A Multifaceted Cultural Contribution Healing the Scars serves as a nexus for Weisman’s manifold passions. His dual websites, healingthescars.com and raphaelweisman.com, showcase his journey, craftsmanship, writings, and healing services, providing resources and educational material to those on their spiritual journeys. Through newsletters, videos, workshops, personal sessions, and public speaking, Weisman imparts his philosophy of interconnectedness and positive energy. As an ordained minister, his ceremonial work with water and the earth further underlines his commitment to planetary healing. About Healing the Scars Founded by Raphael Weisman, Healing the Scars provides a container for healing the wounds of war, violence and abuse by combining a wide range of healing and therapeutic modalities in centers and land-based communities worldwide. Comprehensive healing modalities are augmented by practical hands-on skills, such as woodwork, metalwork, food production, contact with animals, research, working with children, the elderly and the arts. This is all enhanced by applying the metaphysical teachings incorporated in Weisman's book, The Path of the Spiritual Warrior . Weisman’s commitment to personal and planetary healing serves to inspire individuals to explore and enhance their physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being. Keith Engelhardt, the visionary behind Sawatch Solutions, embarked on his tech journey in the early ‘70s. Over the decades, he made significant contributions across multiple technological realms such as digital electronics, laser gauging, and coordinate measuring systems. Engelhardt’s transition into web development in the late ‘90s positioned him as a pioneer in user experience and interface design. His portfolio boasts collaborations with high-profile clients, such as Audi, NASA, and major retailers. Burnsville, MN - Yolanda Vanveen, renowned master gardener and founder of the Garden Naturally Group is empowering gardeners and communities with low-cost, sustainable gardening practices. With a passion for environmental stewardship, Vanveen’s initiative is educating the public on alternative methods to harmful chemicals while offering practical, cost-effective gardening solutions. As a master gardener with deep roots in the floral industry, Yolanda Vanveen’s understanding of and appreciation for gardening have been cultivated over a lifetime. After migrating from Holland in 1959, her family’s legacy led to the establishment of a flower farm in the United States. This rich history has been instrumental in shaping Vanveen’s journey from selling flowers and bulbs at local farmers’ markets to becoming a leading advocate for sustainable gardening practices. A Journey from Flower Markets to Master Gardening Yolanda Vanveen’s early exposure to the floral business began with her family’s flower farm near Mount Hood, Oregon. At a young age, she took the initiative to sell excess flowers at farmers’ markets, eventually launching her own business at the age of 22 after obtaining a BA in Communications from Linfield University in McMinnville, OR. Her dedication saw her traveling across the country, participating in garden shows and fostering connections within the horticultural community. However, with the 2010 economic downturn and personal life challenges, Vanveen shifted her focus toward education and personal growth. As a single mother she obtained a paralegal certificate from Clark College a MELP (Masters in Environmental Law and Policy) from Vermont Law School, and a JD law degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul. She sought stability for her family, resulting in a move to Minnesota. Her passion for gardening persisted, albeit in a simpler, more localized form. Settling in Minnesota, Vanveen embraced the unfamiliar Midwest flora, transforming almost an acre of land into a thriving garden. Her efforts have focused on creating environments that support biodiversity, attracting pollinators like hummingbirds and butterflies. Beyond personal gardening, she continues to inspire a large audience through her “arden Naturally Group on Facebook, which now boasts 270,000 members (and 6.7M monthly views). With a mission to disseminate sustainable gardening knowledge, Vanveen’s organic garden consultation services are designed to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly gardening methods. Drawing on her vast expertise, these consultations provide tailored advice for creating vibrant gardens that are both productive and low-impact. A Voice Through Digital Media Vanveen’s influence extends online, where she has long been a pioneer in gardening education videos. Her journey began in 2004, answering a Craigslist ad for gardening video hosts on YouTube. Collaborations with platforms like eHow and about.com eventually amassed millions of views, as her accessible content resonated with how-to-garden videos for enthusiasts seeking practical advice. Undeterred by industry challenges and the chemical company-driven market, Vanveen has consistently advocated for science literacy and transparency. Her goals is to empower gardeners with the education needed to make informed decisions, prioritizing products and methods that minimize environmental and bodily harm. Join the Movement Through her organic garden advocacy services, Yolanda Vanveen invites all gardeners to rediscover the benefits of traditional medieval gardening practices and embrace stewardship’s golden rule: every decision should benefit the Earth and humans. Her social media posts offer a holistic approach to gardening that harmonizes with nature’s rhythms, promoting well-regulated ecosystems over chemical dependency. “I want to let people know that sustainability in gardening isn’t just possible—it’s essential. It might seem simple, but sometimes going back to basics can make the biggest impact,” explains Vanveen. “We are not just planting seeds in our gardens; we are planting hope for future generations.” About the Garden Naturally Group The Garden Naturally Group was founded in 2010 by Yolanda Vanveen, a visionary master gardener dedicated to advocating for sustainable gardening and environmental stewardship. Coralville, IA -- Denise McCormick is a multi-dimensional achiever. She has accomplished much as an educator, initially with young children and later as a college professor. She is a best-selling author of books in the adult self-development category and several for children, one that speaks to her central idea of mindset. Denise was honored as a top industry professional in 2024 and at the tender age of 70 will be appearing in Vogue . She also achieved recognition in the farming sector, for stewarding their Heritage and Century family farm business through the turbulent farm crises of the 1980’s. And she has become an in-demand speaker for her strengths as a storyteller and motivational powerhouse. Empowerment is a theme in all that Denise does, whether it was finding her own sense of power while triumphing over a job-related medical issue, or when learning to recoup after the premature death of a teenage friend. Perhaps best known as The Educator’s Coach , she steers The Success Mindset Mentorship program in a way that can help anyone, in any field or circumstance, to face their fears and uncertainties and move to a place of strength, power, and authentic presence. “I always say there are two ways to look at the acronym FEAR. One is negative, Forget Everything and Run. The other is Face Everything and Rise. I’ve chose to rise time and again.” Without going into detail, one circumstance Denise faced and arose over was a dust mites allergy problem and lack of adequate air circulation in the classroom, which had given her crippling headaches and sinus issues for years. Denise faced the District and won (although she had to leave that particular teaching location.) Facing the bully is another mind-over -matter issue she strongly believes in, and it is part of the newest coaching certification she is pursuing: Slay-master High Conflict Negotiation Coaching. Denise says that what you say to your mind, your mind then then says to you. It all starts with your words, which you have the power to choose. This concept was at the heart of one of her successful children’s books, Never Mind the Monkey Mind . Denise first discovered the power of coaching when she stopped working full time and went on a 10-year journey of self-care and exploration. She joined some women’s networking groups, attended a Jack Canfield event, and read his book Breakthrough to Success . Denise went for further training in Scottsdale where she met a publisher who planted a seed. Afterwards, Denise authored (solo and as a contributor) six books with themes like Never Mind the Monkey Mind, Polly the Talking Collie: I Am Taking 100% Responsibility, Ordinary Miracles, s Women Who Impact, Leading with Legacy and Women Who Shine . This relationship brought out the leader that had always been inside Denise and helped her to express her thoughts on our mindset and overcoming adversity. That all evolved and today Denise runs a coaching practice called Success Mindset Mentorship that offers weekly and monthly coaching session packages. She inspires and supports educators and helps them realize what they can or can’t control in the classroom, and the industry at large. She helps them understand concepts like control, manipulation and narcissism and keep their heads straight. She also validates their work, and the impact teachers have on emerging minds and personalities. Mentoring others was always part of her career and educational life. In fact, she participates in a global educational program that brings books and learning tools to remote parts of Ghana West Africa through Links Across Borders. Travelling this way taught her there is more commonality than difference amongst global peoples and there is no place for bigotry or ignorance. Denise has a lot to say about this and will also discuss her upcoming book. She will explain her keen sense of faith and all that God has meant in her life and how that was an impetus in her own growth. “It all started with a dream to be the change I longed to see in education. And it just kept unfolding.” For more information about Denise and her coaching visit www.denisemccormick.com…
Northampton, MA -- Lenore Shepard is a woman who has been many things in life, and they all share one underlying mission: empowering and helping people to live better, stronger, and more vibrant lives. Lenore began her professional life as a clinical social worker and was first exposed to professional coaching in 2005. Today she is a Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach and specializes in nutrition and dietary health, GI and digestive health, building stress resilience, as well as the intimate connection between digestive and mental health. This unique background, along with a trauma informed style, distinguishes Lenore’s practice, and her ability to connect with a culturally diverse population as well as different age groups. Lenore has been on our radio program before and is appearing as part of the Empowering Women series. She feels her purpose has always been enmeshed with female empowerment—from supporting domestic violence survivors and nurturing their continued healing and sense of agency, to advising women on how to foster deeper self-compassion and prioritizing their self-care and wellness. She says a lot of folks with a history of trauma, women in particular, are more likely to carry stress in their stomach and abdominal area which can at times manifest in digestive distress; Therefore, focusing on healing the gut microbiome in order to extend longevity is a focal point in her wellness work. Lenore has returned to discuss her emphasis on Lifestyle Medicine and will clue listeners in on what that means, and how it is an emerging focus in medicine. Doctors are recognizing that our daily choices, behaviors, stress chemistry among other things have a profound impact on our health and lifespan. Thus, health coaches are well poised to partners with people to help initiate change in behavior and lifestyle habits in order to improve their lifespan. Lenore emphasizes and is deeply passionate about the mind- body-spirit connection that is essential to good health and a harmonious and balanced life. That is particularly true when it comes to the digestive system and how we can sometimes use food as a response to life’s stressors. The gut, she says, is like a second brain and listening to and trusting our intuition can help us deepen our connection with our body and our instincts. Lenore works with women who want to improve their health and wellbeing and make self-care a priority; Through her compassionate, holistic, and trauma-informed background, she coaches, supports, educates and counsels them on their road to health. She can be contacted via her website: Coaching with Lenore . Lenore also specializes in working with empaths, who in its broadest sense are people who are highly attuned to the emotions of others and at times take on those emotions as their own. “We feel different. We sense things and pick up on energies which can be bewildering and at times overwhelming. We need alone time for refueling and refilling our cup.” Growing up, Lenore was always labeled as being overly sensitive to touch, emotions, sounds and other things. “When I learned about what it means to be an empath and how we show up in the world, it was like coming home; I finally understood why I felt like an outsider so much of my life.” Lenore has helpful tips and ideas to share that can enlighten and empower other women, families, and listeners in general. Finding your true voice, your deep-rooted soul purpose can be ever evolving. Lenore will also talk about her new YouTube channel she co- launched called 2 Coaches, 1 Life : Igniting confidence, health and joy to make the most of this life . She and her co-host (Judy Fine), a vocal, performance and confidence coach, discuss topics including holistic health, fostering deeper self-confidence and self-compassion, as well as strategies for getting the most joy out of our lives. Lenore is also a Reiki practitioner and believes all forms of energy healing are a boon and wonderful accompaniment to whole health healing. “Everyone wants to live better and extend our health span. Preventive health measures and shifting our perspective and behaviors are the path to achieving that goal. We know that up to about 80% of autoimmune diseases have a common denominator which is stress. We have the power to shift that dynamic and reshape our approach to treating disease and healing ourselves.” Hear more such pearls of wisdom in Lenore’s podcasts--with Close Up host Jim, and also with her new coaching partner.
