On the Season 2 debut of Lost Cultures: Living Legacies , we travel to Bermuda, an Atlantic island whose history spans centuries and continents. Once uninhabited, Bermuda became a vital stop in transatlantic trade, a maritime stronghold, and a cultural crossroads shaped by African, European, Caribbean, and Native American influences. Guests Dr. Kristy Warren and Dr. Edward Harris trace its transformation from an uninhabited island to a strategic outpost shaped by shipwrecks, colonization, the transatlantic slave trade, and the rise and fall of empires. Plus, former Director of Tourism Gary Phillips shares the story of the Gombey tradition, a vibrant performance art rooted in resistance, migration, and cultural fusion. Together, they reveal how Bermuda’s layered past continues to shape its people, culture, and identity today. This podcast is about shedding old beliefs, transformation, female sexuality, stigma around it, decisions made based on all that, and the healing of traumas that almost inevitably happen as a result. It’s a mix of stories, diary records, and shared trauma-healing. I used to focus on creating a picture-perfect image of myself until I got sick and tired of that fakeness. You will hear separate stories based on my life experiences as an immigrant from Latvia, North-Eastern Europe. Even though most stories are based on my life events, details may not be accurate. So enjoy them rather as fiction, as metaphors with incorporated learnings, and as an inspiration for you to show up and speak up authentically. Why? Because it’s okay to be human.

If you are somewhat familiar with Tarot cards, you'll know that in Tarot, the Hanged Man card signifies a period of pause, reflection, and reevaluation. It encourages surrender, letting go of old beliefs, and embracing a new perspective to move forward. I was a hanged man for a while, and you may remember me before that period. You may not want to accept the changes in me because I have come back different. If that's the case, it's all right, but perhaps we need to part ways because I can't undo the change, and I can't not speak about the truth I see, as I believe my truth can help. I continue to discuss my journey as a carnivore.…
Weight loss is a big thing. Many lose hope. Others torture themselves with depleting diets and exhausting exercises that raise cortisol levels and increase hunger. I've found other ways, the ways that work for me right now. I'm sharing this information to help people avoid and prevent suffering and disease. In this episode, I mention Dr. Ben Bikman, Dr. Paul Mason, and Dr. Elizabeth Bright.…
I received a question from a friend about my carnivore diet. This episode is inspired by our text exchange and is also a continuation of the previous episode. As usual, you'll hear some captivating fiction and some useful educational information. The names of experts I am mentioning are: Doctor Garry Fettke, Professor Thomas Seyfried, and Doctor Chris Palmer.…
Usually, a strong value and belief system is praised. I have had several major transformations in my life, and I believe it is necessary and healthy to be curious and listen to those with contradicting viewpoints, consider other perspectives, and, if arguments are convincing, modify our belief systems. It isn't weakness, it means you are progressing instead of stagnating. What do you think?…
Can we agree to heal our trauma so that we can resolve conflicts between family members, neighbors, and nations? In this episode, I explore my family history. It's a vulnerable and tragic story that I share with love and respect as a tribute to my Maternal Female Lineage on Mother's Day Eve. As a language and storytelling coach, I am passionate about collecting stories and helping others to collect and share theirs. Do you know what abuse smells like and what its aftertaste is like? Can you imagine living in the skin of an ill zebra who gets chased by a cackle of hyenas? I believe I can live in the brain of Lauma, and see through her eyes. She is the creation of Linda Arāja, and after this episode, somewhat also mine. Can I live in the brain of a beast? Probably not, but I can spot them better now. Yet, ultra vigilance may turn into paranoia. Be careful. Healing means softening and letting go. Let go.…
Before I moved to the US, I thought that my English was good. Afterwards, I realized it was not good enough. I had to catch up. In this episode, you'll learn what words and terminology I had to learn, about magic numbers, and my conversation with the Universe.
How can one celebrate their half-life mark? One can if one chooses to, or if one follows the signs from the Universe. I did. My vision of how it would happen didn't get fulfilled, but what did happen was worth it. Tune in to learn why.
When is it right and when is it wrong to say something? She who speaks boldly and she who hides the truth behind her humor. And what should I do: speak or keep silent forever? As always, to learn more about me, visit ilzebe.com
In this episode, I pick up from where I left it, introduce new characters, real and imaginative, and conclude by having made a full circle. Expect some self-reflective irony and a promise of the light at the end of a tunnel. This episode is about packing and unpacking some emotional baggage in the soup of stories spiced with love and frustration. In the previous episodes, you learned a little about my two husbands and my dogs. Each episode is a follow-up to the previous ones. Therefore, it's better to listen to them in their numerological order.…
This is a mosaic of memory pieces from the times of a younger Ilze Be in Latvia. Memory mix of pleasant and painful experiences begin to explain how from a business owner she ended up working as a waitress at an American restaurant. This is the question that so many customers whom she served asked her. If you are one of them, here you have it.…
There are people, animals, and abstract beings named as feelings talking in my head. I used to think that people who had voices in their heads were not "normal". I labeled them in my mind. To feel "normal", I denied that I also had voices in my head. I needed to come across a recognized source to change my opinion and start listening to what was going on in my head. It's rather fascinating, especially for me as an artist. I see it in colors now. I hope you'll enjoy this episode and feel better about yourself after listening to it. Hosted on Acast. This episode features a zoomed-in moment in the life of the main character (me). Her outer shell is a woman who is working as a waitress. Yet, more than one person is talking in her head making her confused. She doesn't feel that she fits in her current environment and wonders what has happened to bring her down to the point she is at. This sets up the stage for revealing some episodes from her past so that the stories of transformation can be revealed in the upcoming episodes. The dominating themes are the inherited burdens of womanhood and the transition of victimhood into feminine power. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.…
The dominating themes are female sexuality and the dogmas around it, the inherited burdens of womanhood, the transition of victimhood into feminine power, traumas trapped in the physical body, healing thereof, as well as intuition, spirituality, and channeling of messages through art. In this first episode, I explain my intent for starting this podcast, how I plan to develop it, and what to expect and what not to expect. I also share some of my vulnerabilities and a memory that made me feel conflicted and will, therefore, always stay with me as long as I live. Hosted on Acast.
