Julia has written a best-selling book called, 'Newborn Mothers : When a Baby is Born, So is a Mother.' She provides postnatal education to the world so that parents receive the respect and reverence they deserve. She is committed to postnatal education that is both based on scientific evidence and cultural care and is dedicated to advocacy for publicly funded postpartum care. Ysaline recounts her own very different postpartum experiences, in part due to her father passing just two months after her baby was born, and one baby being born during the time of the Covid 19 pandemic, a period when there was no clear vision of the future and so much uncertainty as to when she could hug her overseas family again. We chat about the unrealistic expectations we often place on ourselves as mothers, the beliefs we may carry around sadness, crying and sleep, and the powerful transformation we go through and why support, care and help is vital to every mother. Ysaline shares her beautiful practice of Rebozo massage, rooted in Mexican cultural practices for releasing physical tension, working through the emotions, slowing down and deeply honouring the complexity of all of life's transitions.
