James brings over 20 years of experience in various leadership roles across business and technology. He builds high-performing lean/agile teams that solve business problems and advance business strategy, while ensuring the strengths of each individual are fully leveraged.
After starting his career as a Software Engineer for Strong Financial, he excelled in various roles during an 18+ year career at Northwestern Mutual that included project/program management, lean/agile IT transformation, IT vendor management, tech talent/workforce development, and lean process improvement.
He was instrumental in the work that led to the creation of the Milwaukee Tech Hub Coalition.
James is currently the Director of Consulting Services for Codeworks, LLC, serving exceptional nationwide clients. He serves on the advisory boards for i.c.stars Milwaukee and Pathways High School, and is a member of the Tech United (United Way) Advisory Council. James and his wife Beth have 4 children (Maddie - 18, Claire - 16, Owen - 13, and Simon - 11) and live in Muskego, WI. He spends his time outside of work traveling with his family, playing basketball, coaching youth sports, golfing, mountain biking, fishing, and just about any other activity someone wants to throw his way.

Here’s a little background on today’s guest… Mike was named the CEO of the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin in January 2021 and during the same time, named the 2020 Waukesha Freeman “Citizen of the Year.” He has lived in the City of Waukesha for the past 33 years with his wife, Sherie, a dog, and a cat. They also have a horse, Ellie. Mike & Sherie have two grown children, Andy, and Marissa, and a grandson, Ford. Mike began his career in manufacturing after graduating from Ohio Valley Business College in East Liverpool, Ohio with a degree in business and accounting. He met his future wife, Sherie, in La Crescent, Minnesota and after several years there, they moved to Waukesha, Wisconsin. Prior to NKFW, Mike served for 2 years as the CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County, having built 4 new homes, and rehabilitated 3 homes for seven families in need of affordable housing in the City of Waukesha. Prior to that, Mike worked in manufacturing in executive roles, primarily in the plastics industry for over 30 years. Mike also gives a lot of his time serving his community. Our guest Gordon Stula is an American entrepreneur, born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He founded a number of successful companies both domestically and internationally. A serial entrepreneur since college, Gordon began his international business career in Russia working for Smith Barney in the early 1990s. In 1994, he founded Engeocom Distributors a Russian cosmetics manufacturing and distribution company which continues to operate throughout the Russian Federation. Prior to February of 2022, Engeocom Distributors was a Russian distributor of iconic American brands on behalf of manufacturers such as Procter & Gamble, Unilever, Farouk Systems and Carmex. In 2007, Gordon Stula founded Stula Aviation, a commercial aircraft fleet management company based in the U.S. that, prior to February of 2022, worked with Russia's civil aviation industry as well as Aeroflot Airlines, The Boeing Company and Airbus SE. In 2022 Gordon founded NeuroReformer, an American medical device manufacturing and distribution company. The NeuroReformer device utilizes a patented technology that accesses the body's neuro pathways during physical therapy, which accelerates natural healing. Gordon earned his BA from the University of Wisconsin, where he played as Defensive Back in the 1984 Hall of Fame Bowl for the Wisconsin Badgers Football Team. His management studies since include a concentration on Negotiation Mastery at Harvard Business School. A family man, Gordon and his wife Sasha raise 4 boys while currently residing in South Florida. Alan won that competition and returned the following year as a judge. Here’s a little intro on today’s guest… Alan is the Founder and King of Desserts for the award-winning A Goodman’s Desserts. He counts the Milwaukee Bucks, Marquette University and nationwide dessert lovers as his clients. His business has been featured on WISN, TMJ4 and national news. Alan is also the Department Chair of the Quality Engineering program at Milwaukee Area Technical College, where the focus is on teaching Operational Excellence. Leaning into his 20+ years’ experience as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Alan is launching into the Consultant space where he coaches businesses through his Operational Excellence and Lean Bootcamps. He is a Faculty Member for the SPARC small business accelerator program at Scale Up MKE. He earned BS and MBA in Finance from Hampton University and Temple University, and he is a lifetime member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity A Philadelphia native, Alan has resided in Milwaukee Wisconsin for almost 20 years with his wife Lisa and their three children.
