S4: Being Biracial, Covert Racism & Becoming Anti-Racist
Manage episode 311246442 series 3097006
This is a pretty personal episode... I wanted to provide some insight into being a person of colour in the world today. At first, I didn't feel I was 'black enough' to share my experiences with racism, but I'm hoping it can be a space of learning and help those who are unaware of racial biases, injustice or benefit from white privilege, to know what to detect. This is such a heavy time; it's been heartbreaking and exhausting processing events in the news and what's surfaced personally for me—straddling my privilege and being half black. So I wanted to share some of it...

It's not enough to stay silent and 'accept' what is. We have to be actively ANTI-RACIST. And it starts by looking at ourselves and then acting with greater awareness. (It's not just the job of people of colour.) Let's have the hard conversations about race, talk to people who live through it, share what we know and learn, and get used to being uncomfortable. Because it will be. Thanks so much for being here—please share this episode with ANYONE who needs to hear it. BIG love—especially to my BIPOC friends.
