This episode features Jo Taylor, Scalp Micropigmentation Artist (SMP) from Follicle Illusion. We discuss Jo's work, how hair loss effects both men and women, and how people deal with this experience. We look at the options available and weigh up the pros and cons of each. I myself have received SMP Treatment following on from male pattern baldness and I talk about my experience throughout the process.
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is non-surgical and is a highly advanced method of cosmetic pigmentation (tattoo). While similar to traditional tattooing, it is also unique in a variety of ways.
This treatment involves placing microdot tattoos in the outer layer of the skin. This stippling pattern gives the effect of hair follicles. It looks like you have cut your hair close to the scalp.

Similar techniques introduce colours into scars allowing them to blend with your scalp. The artist chooses colours that closely match your natural skin tone.

These procedures involve a high level of detail. Depending on the extent of the micropigmentation needed, it can take 3 to 5 hours. Often, individuals choose to have this completed over 2 to 3 sessions.
