Today I’m joined by Fitness, Health, Positivity and Habits Coach, not to mention Poker player Tyler Todt. You’ve probably witnesses how social media has become a cess pool of negativity, hysteria and infamous individuals over the last few years. Often such individuals make the most noise and get the most negative attention than anyone else as they put on their social media mask. Which is why when someone comes a long who is an antidote to all of that it’s super refreshing – well it is to me at least. Expect to hear: How one of the biggest gut checks for him was having loads of money and his 1st marriage falling apart. How concentrating on what you really value (instead of what you think you should value) is a game changer. The life changing experience him and his wife had fostering and later adopting two of their three kids, and the challenges of his wife’s first pregnancy. How he does a self audit once a month covering the most important areas of his life. Today I am joined by Heart Surgeon, Medical Director of Ovadia Heart Health and author of the book “Stay of My Operating table” Dr Philip Ovadia As some of you know I lost my dad after he had two strokes back in 2015 and have a family history of heart disease – there is a good chance your story may be similar to mine. I found good information on diet and health difficult to come by, the advice from my GP “brief” to say the least, and a ton of conflicting information. Which is why for some years now I’ve been keen to speak with a heart surgeon. There is a ton of useful info in todays episode Expect to hear: How many of the people that he operates on actually have low cholesterol. Why much of the information he learned during medical school has proved to be wrong. The truth around highly processed seed oils we've been advised to eat. How it makes no sense to him that foods we have eaten for 99.9% of our existence are suddenly bad for us. The measures of metabolic health you should focus on to reduce risk of heart disease A simple test you can have done to indicate whether you are in fact developing heart disease right now. On todays episode I’m delighted to be joined by psychologist, licenced marriage and family therapist, and attachment specialist Adam Lane Smith, to talk about his specialist area of expertise which is fixing your attachment style. Adam came up on my radar because quite frankly I couldn’t ignore him as he was everywhere online and his wisdom and knowledge on relationship dynamics and attachment are second to none. Put simply he breaks this stuff down in very simple terms and is helping tons of people in doing so. Expect to hear: Why the idea that attachment style is fixed in stone and cannot be changed is false. Why knowing the exact steps to take in healing your broken attachment style and the order in which to take them is key. How avoidant and anxious attachment plays out in relationships (you might recognise yourself here). The importance of having a state of the union discussion about your marriage on a regular basis. If you want to find out a bit more about Adam you can look him up on YouTube, TikTok and all other social medial channels. On todays episode I welcome back friend of the podcast and buddy of mine from across the pond - Zac Small. Zac runs a brotherhood for men in the US – Fraternity of Excellence and he also pens The Family Alpha Blog. He is a real champion of male empowerment and men showing up as the best men, husbands, fathers and community leaders they can. But the reason this episode is powerful is that I recorded it just under a year ago, before I took a break from the podcast, and in the aftermath of a pretty bumpy time for us as a family when my eldest daughter was going through some mental health challenges. So what you are going to get today is some real honest and frank conversation from the coal face of life. Uncut no holds barred. Expect to hear: The importance of sharing the story of what you have been through and what you have learned (even when it’s painful to do so) Why seeking out other likeminded men when we realise we need to save ourselves is powerful step towards triumphing through adversity How challenges and setbacks in life are part of you and not some dirty little secret. How struggling doesn’t make you a bad man or a bad dad, it simply makes you a human being. Dave is the Psychology Program Manager at Arizona State University. There is no denying that the world is a challenging place and it might surprise you to know that whilst we have evolved as human beings, the actual hardwiring which governs our behaviour, emotions, how we see the world, along with threats, opportunities and stuff that makes us feel good hasn’t. Which is why our operating system struggles from time to time. Expect to hear: How small scale societies made it far simpler for people to get their seven basic needs met The difference between self actualisation and living a meaningful life Why caring for others and strong relationships are central to meaning How not everything that is natural is necessarily good for you or society Find out more about Doug and Dave on Twitter, the Arizona State University Website, check out Doug's blog on Psychology today Sex, Murder and the Meaning of Life , and Dave's Podcast called Zombified. Today I am pleased to be joined by Broadcaster, Writer and Radio Presenter Ken Coleman to talk about his book From Paycheck to Purpose which details a 7 step blueprint to go from a job or career you hate, to one which gives you purpose, impact and a great income to boot. A recent poll discovered that only 15% of people are fully engaged with work with 85% of people unhappy in their jobs. Ken walked the path to escape this predicament and in our conversation we lift the lid on exactly what he learned and what he has taught to 1000’s of others in the same position. Expect to hear: Why young people are encouraged to pursue “safe professions” instead of harnessing their wonder and imagination. How men have traded provision for purpose. Why you don’t have to go all in and leave your day job as some so called experts claim is the only way. How fear and the unknown are greater than the actual work required to change careers Check out Ken here: https://www.ramseysolutions.com/ken-coleman To grab my book The Dad Blueprint plus a ton of FREE Bonuses and get fast tracked into my discord server for dads The Guild of Dads Brotherhood click here.…

On todays episode I am joined by writer, philosopher plus Senior Editor of the new magazine Compact, along with author of the book What Do Men Want? Nina Power. Never before has the the spotlight been on men in the way it currently is. What we do, what we don't do, how we behave. A picture is being painted about how the average man acts and thinks but does this ring true with reality? What do men have to say about this? I discuss with Nina just where we go from here and what the future holds for relations between men and women. We delve into: How Nina was inspired to write the book because of the growing divisions in society between men and women that didn't ring true with her reality. The way in which contemporary feminism isn't anything like the feminism she grew up with in the 90's. Why people are encouraged to put labels on men right now and how the fear around men isn't based in reality. Today I am joined by mentor, parenting blogger and coach along with founder of Peaceful Fathers - Anthony Migliorino . There has over the last few decades been seismic shifts in just how we parent our children, leading some of us to question whether the way we were taught is actually the right way. Caught between being to liberal on the one hand and overly authoritarian on the other parents are beginning to ask if there is another way. On my conversation with Anthony we delve into: How he discovered peaceful parenting 20 years ago and why the non-aggression principle revolutionised his parenting. The differences between authoritative parenting and permissive parenting and why both of these types of parenting are abusive in different ways. Why using fear as a method of control means that when children grow into adulthood this will be normalised as a way others can influence their behaviour. They hypocrisy around parents telling children not to hit and how they then go to use violence as a means to compliance. Why focussing on what you kids to right rather than criticising and nit picking all the time grows their confidence. 🔥 If you want to join the Guild of Dads 🤝 you can do so via our Facebook Group 🔥 To grab a FREE copy of my e-book 📖 The Dad Blueprint click here 🔥 To buy me a Coffee ☕ click here Get involved and find out more To get involved with the conversation on social media we are on Facebook , Instagram & Twitter Episode show notes can be found on our website If you like what we are doing, leave a rating and review here…

In my conversation with Zac we discuss: The choice we have over what aspects of our own dads we want to retain or reject How we are the first generation to have one foot in the pre and post digital era's and why this impacts being a father Why society seems to want to disempower men right now rather than empowering them How life is short and we need to appreciate the present moment and the fact we might not be here tomorrow The challenge of how to engage men's problems as men naturally do, rather than approaching men as broken women.…
Today I talk about how we are called to things in life and what it requires of us. My guest today is bestselling author and host of the Veteran State of Mind Podcast, along with Iraq and Afghanistan Vet - Geraint Jones There is an old saying along the lines of "oh they were an overnight success" except what people don't often see is the many years before hand that it took to get to that point. Some of us are called to something from an early age and others find their calling later in life. On todays episode Geraint and I discuss: His childhood fascination with books being one of the last of the pre-digital generation. The rituals he gets into so he can get into the writing zone daily.
