He is the former Attorney General of BC, the former Minister of Health, and served as 33rd. Premier of British Columbia. Mr. Ujjal immigrated to England at the young age of 17, learning English while working at a variety of jobs. In 1968 Mr. Ujjal left England for Canada, settling in Vancouver, where he worked in a sawmill and took college courses in the evening. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a law degree from the University of British Columbia. In January 2003, Mr. Ujjal was awarded the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman (An Indian Honour for Expatriates) from Indian Prime Minister Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee in New Delhi.
