It was quite the summer in Paris 2024 - for co-hosts Michael and John in their roles with talkSPORT but also for first time Olympian Anthony Harding - their guest on this final episode of another Olympic year! The British diver made history with his 'idol' Jack Laugher, as the pair won Team GB's 4th historic synchronised diving medal of Paris 2024 in the 3m springboard. We look-back with Anthony on his achievements in his first Games, and look ahead to what's next including a new coach, new training venue in Sheffield and a tilt at individual success too. Michael and John also round up some of the other Olympic news ahead of a big year, even though 2025 isn't officially an 'Olympic year'. And as Christmas and New Year is the time to reflect, a final mention of experiences and learnings from Paris 2024! And as it is the festive season, may we thank you for listening, wish you and yours a very happy holiday and see you for more Olympics and Paralympics podcasts in 2025! The Commonwealth Games has been saved by Scotland and Glasgow 2026. But what does the future hold in store? Who else will host? We go straight to the top and ask CEO Katie Sadleir who tells us Glasgow will stage a world class Games. 2030 hosts will be decided next year. Co-hosts across smaller nations could be an option. They'll be more sports 16 or 17 in 2030. A series of Commonwealth championships will also be looked at, as well as maintaining the successful Youth Games, with a host confirmed for that in March 2025. Oh and Australia 'will host the Games again' despite Victoria pulling out with 8 hours notice to host 2026. You'll hear John and Michael's commentary, reports and interviews from talkSPORT, the official Olympic broadcaster of the Paris 2024 Olympics, at the start of this podcast. Simply it was the greatest ever games for Team GB canoeists - and subsequently the Para Canoe team matched it weeks later in the Paralympics. But Ashley Metcalfe as CEO of Paddle UK is in charge of so much more than just success - how does it prioritise clean water or paddle boarding or canoe slalom or kayak cross or canoe sprint?
