Host Becky Hennesy sits down with one of the most amazing mother-daughter combinations she's ever met. When Daphne McQuarter filed adoption papers for Alena Analeigh at birth, she had no idea the genius mind residing inside the newborn baby.
Alena just recently graduated from high school and will virtually attend Arizona State University in the fall as a double major in astronomical and planetary science. She has dreams of one day working for NASA.
What makes Alena's story so remarkable is her current age....She's just 12.
Becky unpacks how Daphne navigated Alena's upbringing as a single parent. Daphne's calling from God to be a mother comes across loud and clear...and is an encouragement for other women. Becky also chats with Alena to find out how she maintains a healthy normal childhood while simultaneously thinking about solutions building a new generation of rockets!
Alena's remarkable story has been featured on numerous major media outlets where she is always ready to talk about her own initiative to help other young minority girls excel in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) academics as well. She calls it Brown Stem Girl and Becky dives in to discover more about that program as well.
