Season 3 provides an insight into the male perspective of having cancer at a young age and offers a balanced representation to explore how different genders experience similar situations or challenges. In this episode we introduce you to Stuart, Ramsay and Robbie as they discuss the benefits of peer support and the relationships with other young people who can relate to their own experiences. They explore the misconception that meeting other young people with cancer and attending peer support events would be sad, and recognise the value in opportunities to meet other young people at different stages in the cancer experience. They recognise that while they receive support from their peers, they are also able to offer that same support to others. In addition, they also acknowledge the importance of consistent support from non-cancer peers.

Season 3 provides an insight into the male perspective of having cancer at a young age and offers a balanced representation to explore how different genders experience similar situations or challenges. In this episode we introduce you to Stuart, Ramsay and Robbie as they discuss the benefits of peer support and the relationships with other young people who can relate to their own experiences. In this episode we introduce you to Darren, Euan and James who are discussing how relationships can be affected by the diagnosis and treatment. They talk about positive relationships with partners, family, friends and the medical team. They describe how unconditional support keeps you grounded, and that they felt they could draw strength from the people around them. Conversely, they acknowledge that being surrounded by people can sometimes be overwhelming and that you also need some time to be alone with your thoughts. So its important to balance time with people with space for yourself. They also discuss the changes in relationships when you rely on people for physical help and support. They describe this as being a 'big bonding experience' which can bring people closer. They share the recognition that their experiences are very different from their friends and challenge the misconception that 'you're fine' because treatment has finished. They describe having cancer as an isolating experience, and share their apprehension about meeting other young people with cancer at first. In this bonus episode we meet Stewart and his mum Lesley. Stewart was diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of 8 followed by a subsequent diagnosis of a skull tumour when he was 22. He is now 34. Stewart and Lesley talk openly for the first time about the impact of cancer on them both as individuals and as a family. Lesley recalls being labelled as an overanxious mother prior to Stewarts diagnosis, and the challenges of juggling day to day life and work after his diagnosis whilst dealing with the fear and uncertainty which accompanies having a child with cancer. Stewart reflects on how different it felt for him having a serious health condition as a young adult in contrast to his childhood experience, and feeling he had 'more to lose' as an adult. Stewart and Lesley explain that they have never talked about the impact the cancer had had on them before now and, on reflection, they wish they had.
