B.Ch. B.A.O.), Brendan holds Masters degrees in epidemiology (M.Sc.), healthcare management (M.A.); and Doctorates in medicine (M.D.), history (Ph.D.), governance (D.Gov.) and law (Ph.D.). Brendan has authored and co-authored over 250 publications in peer-reviewed journals, over 500 non-peer-reviewed publications, 13 book chapters and other book contributions, and 11 books. His recent books include The Doctor Who Sat For A Year (2019), Hearing Voices: The History of Psychiatry in Ireland (2016) and Mental Illness, Human Rights and the Law (2016). Brendan is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, and Trinity College Dublin. In 2017, Brendan became Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Law and Psychiatry. He likes cats.
