In this episode FOZA fans, our guest speaker Marie Boone-Clark is the Founder and managing director of “Birthing the Magic Collaborative”, a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing evidence-based, culturally humble education, covering all aspects of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and infant care.
She has served as key liaison to a variety of prestigious medical professional associations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), National Medical Association (NMA), and National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN).
Marie is also the co-founder of Antonia and Grace Motherhood Concierge, which offers a holistic approach to maternal support services.
Today, she is here to give us insight from research on a subject that can be obscure, and have devastating effects. The attention is on “Melanated Mamas”; this includes all Black women, femmes, and non-binary persons who identify with Black womanhood. The topic is the Superwoman Schema- authored by Dr. Cheryl Giscombé. Today Marie is going to shine light on this shadowy subject and tell us how her organization “Birthing the Magic Collaborative” is closing the gaps in disparity by bringing knowledge and understanding to the community. ---------------------------------------------------
