“We Stand With Ukraine-100 Episodes Series-One Story At A Time,” Join Dr. Sergiy Borysov, (Guest Co-Host) and I as we discuss The Holodomor-Ukraine’s Forgotten Genocide. The Holodomor was a man-made famine that occurred in Ukraine when it was a part of the Soviet Ukraine between 1932 and 1933. It was a result of Soviet policies under Joseph Stalin, which included forced collectivization of agriculture and the seizure of grain from Ukrainian farmers. The purpose of the famine was to suppress Ukrainian nationalism and resistance to Soviet rule. As a result, approximately 7-10 million Ukrainians, particularly in rural areas, died from starvation and related illnesses-(the true number of deaths may never be known). While The Holodomor is considered a genocide by many scholars and is a tragic event in Ukrainian history, it failed to extinguish Ukraine’s unwavering spirit for freedom and independence from the USSR and Russia.
