Reinvention doesn’t require a grand plan. For me, it starts with curiosity, creativity, and the willingness to plant something new. As I wrap up season one of GenerateHER, I’ve been thinking about what it means to grow as a woman in business, and as someone who’s built a life in Paris. This episode is my chance to reflect on the stories we’ve shared, the lessons I’ve learned, and the practices that continue to guide me. I talk about nurturing your “secret garden,” those dreams and ideas you’ve planted, and the importance of protecting them from negativity. I share why I believe creativity is non-negotiable. Without it, how can we reimagine our work, solve problems, or even see ourselves in a new way? I also revisit some of my favorite conversations from this season: asking for help with intention, taking risks with courage, journaling as a business tool, and of course, the many lessons I’ve learned from French culture. From the art of a dinner party to the value of thoughtful relationships, life in Paris continues to shape how I show up in the world. I hope this episode feels like a conversation with a friend, and that it leaves you thinking about your own next season. A bientôt, mes amis! A single journal Natalie Valmary carried on a family trip through Asia sparked one of the most beautiful brands I’ve ever encountered, and reminded me how important it is not to wait on your dreams. In this episode, I sit down with Natalie, the founder of Louise Carmen, to talk about creativity, reinvention, and what it looks like to build a business that’s deeply personal. Natalie shares how her idea took shape during a year of travel with her husband and daughters, and how it grew into a beloved journal company based right here in Paris. Natalie also opens up about the stroke that changed everything, and the clarity it brought about what really matters. That part of the conversation hit me hard. What do we do with the time we’ve been given? Are we spending it in ways that feel true to who we are? This episode is full of inspiration for women, whether you’re starting something new or finding your way back to what you love. We talk about personal transformation, the quiet power of journaling, and what it means to trust yourself in life and in business. Feeling stuck might have less to do with your circumstances and more to do with only seeing one version of who you are. As May rolled in, I realized I hadn’t made the progress I hoped for this year, and that left me feeling stuck. I’ve heard the same thing from so many smart, accomplished women in business who are committed to personal development but still feel like something’s missing. I started asking myself: are we stuck, or are we just seeing ourselves through too narrow a lens? So often we’re reduced to one role… entrepreneur, parent, partner… and it’s hard to imagine what else we could be. But living in Paris has shown me how much power there is in being multi-dimensional. The culture here values boundaries, and those boundaries make space for different sides of a person to exist. In this episode, I’m sharing what I’ve been learning, the practices that are helping me reconnect with other versions of myself, and a few questions I think are worth asking. What would happen if you stopped waiting for the next version of you to show up and started making space for her instead? I hope this episode encourages you to do just that. Writing cracked open a new version of me that reshaped my identity, my community and my business. For years, I didn’t think of myself as a writer. But when I started journaling, just a few sentences each morning, it became one of the most important tools in my self-development. Writing helped me make sense of what I was feeling, especially during hard times. It reminded me of the strength I’d already shown and helped me reconnect with parts of myself I’d almost forgotten. In this episode, I’m sharing how writing has supported my personal development and opened unexpected doors, from writing a memoir during the pandemic to starting a newsletter and creating retreats for women. Each step brought me closer to a deeper version of myself. What surprised me most was the sense of connection. When I shared my story, people reached out to say they saw themselves in it. That’s the real power of writing. It helps us realize we’re not alone. If you’ve been craving a way to hear your own voice again, I hope this episode gives you the nudge to pick up a pen. I’ll also share a few things that have helped me along the way. What version of you might show up if you gave yourself permission to begin? Building a business that actually feels like you starts with knowing the season you’re in and letting go of who you think you’re supposed to be. I had the absolute joy of sitting down with Molly Balint for a conversation that felt equal parts grounding and eye-opening. Molly is the founder of the SOFT business movement, and someone I’ve admired for years, not just for the work she does, but for how she does it. From her family farm in Maryland, where she’s raising four daughters and running her own business, Molly brings such a clear sense of purpose and presence to everything she shares. We talked about what it really means to be a woman in business right now, how easy it is to fall into the trap of doing all the things, all the time, and how freeing it can be to finally step back and ask: What actually works for me? What if success doesn’t have to look loud or busy? What if building something meaningful starts with knowing your season and giving yourself permission to grow at your own pace? Molly’s idea of SOFT business hit home for me. It’s about building from a place of alignment, self-awareness, and grace, not guilt or pressure. And it reminded me why women supporting women isn’t just a nice idea. It’s necessary. When we share our stories honestly, we make space for others to do the same. If you’ve ever felt the tension between who you are and who you think you’re supposed to be, I think this episode will speak to you the way it spoke to me. We contain multitudes, and learning to honor every version of ourselves might be the most honest kind of authenticity. After living in Paris for more than 20 years, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about identity, why we feel different in certain places, how we show up in different roles, and what it really means to find your voice. In this episode, I’m sharing some of my own reflections, what it’s like to be an introvert who thrives professionally but needs quiet to recharge, and how I’ve come to understand the many “voices” I use throughout my life. Some are bold. Some are quiet. All of them are mine. I’ve wrestled with the idea of authenticity. Am I being true to myself if I act one way at work and another at home? For a long time, that question left me feeling off-balance. But then I started to realize that maybe finding happiness has less to do with choosing one version of yourself and more to do with accepting all of them. So I’m asking: What if your different voices are all valid? What if your adaptability is actually a strength, not something to hide? This is a short, personal episode… one I hope will give you a moment of recognition, relief, or maybe a fresh perspective on the beautiful complexity of being human. We often wait for big moments to feel joyful. But what if the magic is actually in the small ones? In this episode, I reflect on how living in Paris has taught me to find beauty in the everyday. While my life might sound glamorous from the outside, the truth is it’s quiet, simple, and wonderfully routine. And yet, something about the way Parisians move through the world has shifted how I see my own day-to-day. From how they introduce each other with intention to the way they arrange produce at the market, the French culture has a quiet genius for turning the ordinary into something memorable. I share stories from my own life, like a quarterly lunch that’s evolved into a mini tradition complete with riddles, and offer ideas for how we can create those small-but-special moments wherever we are. This episode is an invitation to mark the moment, to be present, and to take joy seriously even on the most mundane of days. A French dinner party has taught me more than I ever expected about French culture, personal discovery, and the way we connect with each other. After two decades of living in Paris, I’ve come to see these dinners as so much more than a meal. What strikes me most is how much thought goes into who’s invited, where they sit, and how the evening unfolds. Why does that matter? Because conversation is the heart of it all. And sometimes, real connection requires a little tension. Disagreement isn’t something to avoid. It’s often where growth begins. I’ve learned that French etiquette—waiting to be seated, arriving fashionably late, skipping the wine gift—reflects something deeper: care, respect, and a sense of occasion. These details have changed the way I think about my own gatherings, and how I show up for the people around me. In this episode, I’m sharing the quiet but powerful life lessons I’ve learned from the French dinner table. They’ve helped me find my voice, stay curious, and be more intentional in ways that go far beyond food. I hope they do the same for you. The boldest move I’ve seen isn’t building a dream life. It’s walking away from one when it no longer feels like yours. When I met Eugenie Lambert Buckstein, I knew I wanted to share her story. She started in law, built a career in journalism, landed a job at CNN, and then walked away from all of it. Not because she failed, but because she started listening to herself more than anyone else. In our conversation, Eugenie opens up about what it really felt like to make that shift. She talks about the pressure of expectations, the toll of covering traumatic news, and the quiet decision to try meditation—something that would completely reshape her life. That path led her to create Bloom, one of France’s first modern meditation centers and a place that holds space for personal transformation, curiosity, and connection. What struck me most is how honest she is about the in-between moments. The doubt. The discomfort. The slow unfolding of a new version of yourself. It made me reflect on how often we stay where we are just because it’s familiar. If you’ve ever felt the quiet nudge that something isn’t working anymore, I think this conversation will speak to you, just like it did to me. As I celebrate the one-year anniversary of “The French Ingredient,” I’ve been reflecting on how book writing became an unexpected tool for personal development. What started as a guide to doing business in France turned into something much bigger: a memoire of reinvention, resilience, and the lessons hidden in life’s detours. Writing through the uncertainty of the pandemic helped me process past experiences and recognize my own growth. It also made me realize that sharing personal stories isn’t just for writers. Writing can be a way to reflect, heal, and connect. If you’ve ever hesitated to put your own experiences into words, I hope this episode helps you see storytelling in a new light. Every challenge holds an opportunity, and the stories we tell, whether in a book or in conversation, can inspire both ourselves and others. Strength is built in life’s toughest moments, but I’ve learned that those moments can also reveal something beautiful. Challenges shape us, resilience grows, and meaning can be found even in adversity. March has always been a month of change for me. It’s a time of renewal, but it also carries reminders of hardship. Five years ago, the world changed in ways we never expected. That experience made me reflect on how joy and struggle often exist side by side. So how do we move forward when life throws the unexpected at us? I’ve found that overcoming obstacles starts with patience and acceptance. Fighting reality rarely helps, but focusing on what I can control does. Mindfulness, grounding techniques, and social connection have been lifelines for me. These simple but powerful tools help us navigate tough times. I’ve also learned that shifting perspective can change everything. Reframing negative thoughts, journaling through uncertainty, and finding small ways to create joy—these things matter more than we realize. Looking back, I see how every challenge I’ve faced has made me stronger in ways I didn’t always recognize at the time. Growth isn’t always obvious in the moment, but it’s happening. The question is, how will you use it? Your dreams are a secret garden; how you care for them shapes what flourishes and what fades. I’ve learned that personal growth and transformation are a lot like tending a garden. After leaving Chicago and building a new life in Paris, I realized that our inner dreams need patience, care, and the right environment to thrive. In this episode, I share the idea of a jardin secret, a secret garden where we plant our hopes and nurture them until they’re ready to bloom. I walk through eight key insights on how to cultivate this inner space, reminding you that growth often happens beneath the surface before you see results. Just like plants need healthy soil, your mindset and emotional well-being shape what you’re able to create. I also talk about the importance of pruning distractions and protecting your dreams from negativity, giving them the space and support they need to take root. Transformation isn’t linear, and every season serves a purpose. By honoring both the quiet moments and the times of bloom, you can embrace renewal, unlock new possibilities, and step into the next version of yourself with confidence. Rethinking success starts with a simple shift: experiment, stay curious, and let learning lead the way. I’m sitting down with neuroscientist and entrepreneur Anne-Laure Le Cunff to talk about neuroscience, creativity, and personal transformation. What happens when we stop chasing a predefined version of success and start treating life as a series of experiments? Anne-Laure shares how a health scare pushed her to leave corporate life, study neuroscience, and build Nest Labs, a community that helps people stay productive and creative without sacrificing mental health. She introduces the “experimental mindset,” a way to embrace uncertainty, learn through action, and reframe failure as progress. She also shares a simple brain hack: “curiosity snacks,” small shifts that turn impulsive habits into moments of meaningful exploration. This conversation is a reminder that personal growth doesn’t require a perfect plan. Instead, understanding the brain and leaning into creativity can open new doors, helping us build a life that evolves with us. What does it really mean to “be French”? Is it about the way I tie my scarf, the handbag I carry, or how I order my coffee? Or is there something deeper? After more than two decades of living in Paris, I’ve wrestled with these questions myself. As an American woman running a business here, I’ve felt the pressure to fit in. But over time, I realized something surprising—my strength came from not trying to. In this episode, I’m sharing what I’ve learned about French culture and mindset, from confidence and self-love to the importance of relationships and the art of conversation. I’ll talk about why women are so often made to feel like they need to mold themselves to fit an ideal and why embracing who you are can be a huge advantage instead. Through my own experiences and observations, I hope to offer a fresh perspective on thriving in a new culture without losing yourself in the process. Success isn’t a finish line. It’s a long, unpredictable road filled with setbacks, small wins, and lessons along the way. After completing a long-awaited renovation for my business, La Cuisine, I felt uneasy with the word success as people congratulated me. The glossy finish doesn’t tell the full story. This journey took seven years of struggles, delays, and setbacks that tested my patience and perseverance. I see this milestone as a réussite, a hard-earned achievement, but real success? Creativity isn’t reserved for artists—it’s how we solve problems, express ourselves, and reimagine what’s possible. But what happens when self-doubt creeps in or inspiration feels out of reach? Jane Bertch sits down with illustrator and author Jessie Kanelos Weiner to talk about the creative process, embracing imperfection, and the unexpected paths that shape our work. Jessie shares her journey from Chicago to Paris, where she arrived as an au pair with a sketchbook and a dream but no clear roadmap. Over time, she found her voice through watercolor, eventually working with brands like Vogue and Cartier while developing a unique artistic identity. Jessie and Jane explore the role of creativity in building confidence, why getting “messy” is often the key to progress, and how cycles of inspiration come and go. Jessie also introduces her new book, Thinking in Watercolor , a guide to unlocking creativity through daily artistic practice. Whether you’re an artist or just looking to bring more creative energy into your life, this conversation will leave you feeling inspired to start where you are. Quotes "I think it's just kind of accepting that some days you just don't want to do what you need to do and you want to work on something else. If you feel like lightning has struck and you need to seize the day, then it’s always important to make a little bit of time for those really pressing ideas." Role models shape how we see ourselves and who we become, yet many women hesitate to claim that title. Why do young women confidently identify their role models while seasoned professionals shy away from the idea? Jane Bertch unpacks this disconnect, sharing insights from her research and personal experience. She breaks down the difference between mentors, sponsors, and role models, explaining why all three play a role in personal and professional growth. She also challenges the modern idea of an “influencer” and makes a case for seeking out role models who inspire action, not comparison. If the people you admire offer a glimpse of your future self, who are you looking to? This episode will help you rethink the voices shaping your path and encourage you to curate a vision for who you’re becoming. Quotes “Your values, I believe, are your voice. And we talk a lot about discovering your voice, growing into your voice. Well, your values are how you deliver what’s important to you and how you present yourself.” (07:56 | Jane Bertch) “You don’t have to want to emulate everything about that person. I cherry pick from people who I consider role models all the time.” (09:11 | Jane Bertch) “Your role models are so important because your role models are a future vision of yourself. They are a future vision of yourself. Your role models are the vision board. If I use that term, they’re the vision board of who you want to be, who you hope to be.” (16:30 | Jane Bertch) “Surround yourself with a diversity of information and opinions. We have access to so many different voices. Choose the ones, as we said, that make you feel that you’re growing, that you’re learning, that you feel good about yourself, that share with you. They don’t show off to you.” (17:36 | Jane Bertch) Links Connect with Jane Bertch: Website: www.janebertch.com Instagram @janebertch Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm…
Taking risks and embracing change are essential for personal transformation, and in this episode, Jane Bertch shares how curiosity, creativity, courage, and community serve as powerful tools for personal development. Drawing on her own leap from Chicago to Paris and her journey of building a business, Jane offers her view on what it really takes to embrace change. How does curiosity help you take that first step? Why does creativity fuel your confidence? What role does courage play in everyday decisions? And how can the right community push you further than you’d go alone? Jane invites you to explore these questions and leaves listeners with a quote from Anaïs Nin: “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to bloom.” It’s a reminder that growth often requires stepping out of the comfort of staying the same. Quotes “If you want to make big changes, you have to make big changes. I think that’s the formula. I don’t see another way around.” (00:59 | Jane Bertch) “Taking risks is a lot about listening to your intuition. And while I do believe in an element of magic from the universe, your intuition is this beautiful database of information and experiences that you’ve collected up to now.” (03:44 | Jane Bertch) “Try to think about how you can use your curiosity. How can you use it to help you take those tiny steps forward, which will allow you to take a risk and moving towards the direction that you want? Curiosity is such a powerful tool.” (06:54 | Jane Bertch) “Courage can be not moving forward. Courage can be having the conviction to stand still. And courage can be the courage to quit, to stop, to know that the fight you fought was a wonderful one.” (12:37 | Jane Bertch) Links Malcom Gladwell : https://www.gladwellbooks.com/titles/malcolm-gladwell/blink/9780316172325/ Connect with Jane Bertch: Website: www.janebertch.com Instagram @janebertch Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm…
Thoughtfully asking for help isn’t just about solving problems, but also about building meaningful relationships. For Jane Bertch, this practice has been a cornerstone of her personal and professional growth. Drawing from her years as a business owner in France, Jane contrasts the shallow, one-sided act of “picking people’s brains” with the enriching experience of fostering reciprocal relationships that allow both parties to grow and learn. In this episode, Jane shares five practical strategies for approaching help with intention that turns it into a mutually beneficial exchange. She focuses on the importance of clear communication that ensures both parties understand their needs and expectations, and points out the role of commitment, integrity, and respect in sustaining meaningful connections. By framing help as a negotiation rather than a request, Jane encourages us to think about what we can offer in return, hence creating a collaborative environment that’s rooted in trust. With her passion for mentoring and community building, Jane inspires a shift from transactional interactions to deeper connections that support personal and professional reinvention. Listeners will leave with a renewed perspective on the power of asking for help—not just as a tool for achieving goals, but as a way to cultivate belonging and unlock new possibilities in every area of life. Quotes “Helping others is really the foundation of community, isn’t it?” (02:59 | Jane Bertch) “Asking for help can actually be a really beautiful way to start a relationship if you do it thoughtfully.” (08:12 | Jane Bertch) “What I want to do is to share resources, to be conscious about how I can help them, to be conscious of what I can bring to the table. Because you know what, I think it’s better when we can grow together.” (10:21 | Jane Bertch) “Commit to it until you said you wouldn’t. Commit to it to the deadline that you gave it. See it through. Having said that, sometimes there are things that are out of our control. Sometimes we have to leave an activity or a business or a project.” (21:48 | Jane Bertch) “Sometimes we have to leave an activity or a business or a project. And if you’re doing that with others, you need to be very thoughtful about how you do so. Again, you want the activity or the project to end, not the relationship… it’s never about leaving. It’s always about how you go.” (22:06 | Jane Bertch) Links https://www.instagram.com/meghandono/ https://www.moritaheripour.com/bringyourselfbook Connect with Jane Bertch: Website: www.janebertch.com Instagram @janebertch Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm…
Building trust and thriving in France means embracing patience, cultivating meaningful relationships, and balancing confidence with humility. Drawing from 20 years of life in France, Jane Bertch shares insights and life lessons that show the unique cultural values shaping her experience. Jane reflects on the deep investment required to build relationships, where trust and understanding take precedence over quick connections, and offers a poignant nod to “Le Petit Prince.” Jane also explores how the French reverence for expertise influences business, where contracts are rooted in reputation and trust rather than mere transactions. What does it take to navigate this delicate balance of trust and professionalism? Presentation—whether in demeanor or surroundings—plays an important role, paired with a deep respect for personal privacy that allows connections to grow naturally over time. Jane’s reflections encourage listeners to embrace these lessons as tools for reinvention and personal growth, wherever life may take them. Join Jane in this episode for a thoughtful exploration of life in France, and gain insights into relationships, expertise, and the art of embracing reinvention with patience and grace. Quotes “Relationships in France are long-term investments. They don’t come overnight.” (04:19 | Jane Bertch) “Contracts are based on relationships. They’re not based on money.” (07:36 | Jane Bertch) “Confidence and humility, I think, are two key words when it comes to doing business in France.” (10:07 | Jane Bertch) “Presentation is everything... It’s not the exterior aesthetics, it’s also, again, the confidence.” (10:17 | Jane Bertch) “Being showy and bling bling… is vulgar to people. It’s really vulgar to the people I know. So I always try to have a careful balance. I think about this in my life. I think about this as my business. To share, not to show. To share because showing can become showing off.” (18:55 | Jane Bertch) Links Connect with Jane Bertch: Website: www.janebertch.com Instagram @janebertch Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm…
“Winter for me is never the end. It’s preparation for the beginning.” Jane Bertch offers a refreshing perspective on growth, as she draws inspiration from the quiet resilience of winter. For her, it’s not a season of endings but a time to reflect, recharge, and prepare for new opportunities. In this episode, Jane shares her tools on personal development and transformation, and weaves in lessons from her life in Paris and experiences as a woman entrepreneur. How can we begin our journey to meaningful growth this 2025? Jane suggests starting with a single word to guide the year—a word that anchors your goals and keeps you aligned. Jane also touches on ways to maintain meaningful connections in the midst of a busy lifestyle. Her innovative approach to nurturing friendships, such as sending weekly video messages, shows how small efforts can deepen relationships. Jane challenges us to seek diversity and curiosity in all areas of life. What new perspectives could transform our paths? With a focus on intentionality, Jane invites us to embrace the year ahead with more meaning and purpose. Quotes “Winter for me is never the end. It’s preparation for the beginning.” (03:34 | Jane Bertch) “I set a word for every year that we have. And that word represents what I want to see out of the year. So some years maybe that word’s ‘pivot.’ Maybe that word is ‘revitalize.’ Maybe that word is ‘grounded.’ That word should be my feel rouge, to use a French word. What is the red line that goes through my year? What is the theme of my year? And I find that so important because I hark back to that all year long. One in reminding myself, what did I want out of this year?” (03:57 | Jane Bertch) “Another book I really, really enjoy is Herminia Ibarra’s book, ‘Working Identity.’ …It’s a really elegantly written, easily digestible book on making those changes. And most importantly, it encourages you that you can do and try anything. And those experiments are so important to helping you figure out what your next step is. And those experiments are not failures if you get to the end of them and you realize that’s not where you meant to be. They’re data points.” (09:33 | Jane Bertch) “Make sure that you are consciously seeking diversity and curiosity in your life in all manners... consciously seek out diversity and that will make your 2025 much richer.” (16:33 | Jane Bertch) Links https://nesslabs.com/annual-review-template https://yearcompass.com https://www.jeffkarp.com/lit-the-book/ https://www.instagram.com/juliacameronlive/?hl=en https://herminiaibarra.com/working-identity-book/ https://open.spotify.com/show/0LtsgWkOpLdYR7wK0senTX (Deepak Chopra) My retreat: https://www.janebertch.com/retreats Journal practice: www.janebertch.com/journal Connect with Jane Bertch: Website: www.janebertch.com Instagram @janebertch Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm…
“Reinvention isn’t a one-time event. It’s a journey we take one step at a time, and we can take that journey whenever we choose.” Joyeuses fêtes! With 2025 just around the corner, Jane Bertch invites us to embrace a kinder, more intentional approach to personal development and New Year’s resolutions. Wouldn’t it be better if resolutions felt inspiring rather than overwhelming? In this episode, Jane shares four meaningful rituals to help us reflect on the past, dream about the future, and set the tone for a fulfilling year ahead. From reflecting on the past year to imagining your ideal future, each practice is designed to ground your intentions and inspire action. Whether it’s crafting your ideal day or finding gratitude in life’s small moments, these tools encourage us to see resolutions as more than goals—they become a way to shape the life we want. Ready to start 2025 with fresh energy? Find your focus and make this your most intentional year yet. Visit janebertch.com for journaling prompts to help you start this journey. Quotes “I really go into a deep dive of, ‘How did the year look for me?’ ‘How did I feel?’ ‘Did it live up to the expectations that I hoped, that I achieve the things that I want?’ …I really start to think about how I felt. What do I want to take into the year ahead? And, importantly, what do I want to leave behind?” (03:11 | Jane Bertch) “I know that we put so much stress on ourselves with intentions and resolutions and projects. But I hope these four little small rituals might slightly shift the way you look at those and do take time to capture them through journaling. Write down and see how you feel.” (13:09 | Jane Bertch) “If my goal is to be a public speaker on big stages across the world, that is the cause. The effect is how I feel. So if I can focus on those feelings that I want out of 2025, perhaps they’ll be delivered through public speaking, perhaps they’ll be delivered through another way I had not even considered.” (13:40 | Jane Bertch) “Reinvention isn’t a one-time event. “Reinvention isn’t a one-time event. It’s a journey we take one step at a time, and we can take that journey whenever we choose. Let’s do it together.” Bonjour, les amis! Welcome to GenerateHER! Host Jane Bertch opens the door to conversations about personal transformation and the unique challenges faced by women who mean business. She kicks things off with her journey from the corporate grind to entrepreneurial freedom. With two decades of life and work in Paris shaping her story, Jane shares how reinvention became a driving force in her life—and how it can inspire yours too! What does it take to find courage in creativity? How do we keep moving forward when self-doubt looms large? These are the kinds of questions Jane explores, guiding honest conversations about growth, resilience, and the endless possibilities waiting to be discovered. GenerateHER is more than just a podcast—it’s a community, a space where women can connect, learn, and reimagine their futures together. Infused with hard-won wisdom and a touch of Parisian flair, this episode invites you to think about what reinvention could look like in your life. What possibilities are waiting to be unlocked, and how can we uplift one another as we embrace what’s next? Quotes “Sometimes we need a little recharge, a refresh, a spark of inspiration to remind us that anything truly is possible, no matter where we are in life. Because believe it or not, there’s a new version of you waiting to unfold every single day.” (00:27 | Jane Bertch) “I want us to explore topics that matter to us. And yes, particularly as women, how to use our differences to our strengths when we find ourselves in a room or in a community where we feel different. How to find courage in creativity. I do believe that that is almost a golden braid to have the sense of creativity to feel creative, and to have courage to pursue that. I believe if you don’t feel creative, you lose your courage. If you don’t feel creative, you can’t reimagine yourself, you can’t reimagine your business, you can’t get the energy to invite stimulation into your life.” (05:32 | Jane Bertch) “I want us to dig deep and figure out how we believe in ourselves. Even when we don’t. How do we push forward when the odds feel stacked up against us? But this isn’t just another podcast about business or personal growth…. I want this also to be about perspective. Living and working in Europe for more than two decades, almost 20 years of those in Paris, has taught me so much about cultural nuance, about adaptability, and the art of enjoying life.” (06:33 | Jane Bertch) “Reinvention isn’t a one-time event. It’s a journey we take one step at a time, and we can take that journey whenever we choose. Let’s do it together.” (11:05 | Jane Bertch) Links Connect with Jane Bertch: Website: www.janebertch.com Instagram @janebertch Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm…
“I do firmly believe that ideas are a psychological view into the future.” In this episode of GenerateHER, host Jane Bertch, a Chicago native now thriving in Paris, invites us to reflect on the power of ideas. Sharing her journey from corporate life to launching a cooking school in the City of Light, she reveals how even the smallest ideas can lead to personal transformation and reinvention. Jane encourages listeners—especially women in business—to see their ideas as more than fleeting thoughts. Could your next breakthrough already be within reach? Drawing on Elizabeth Gilbert’s “Big Magic,” Jane describes ideas as entities that arrive for a purpose, waiting for you to nurture them into reality. Pointing out five key themes, Jane shares strategies for cultivating ideas, from journaling to building supportive relationships. She also addresses common obstacles like self-doubt and fear, and offers guidance on how to overcome them and create an environment where ideas can thrive. If you’re feeling stuck or unsure of your future, this episode offers a fresh perspective on idea generation to support your personal development. Jane encourages us to start by revisiting the ideas we’ve ignored. Could one of those ideas hold the key to your next chapter? Quotes “I love the concept of ideas as little entities. What I’ve learned is that some of the best ideas can come out of the blue. They can come in quiet moments, they can come on coffee dates with good friends where you’re vulnerable and you’re playing with different concepts in your mind. The trick is to remain open and listen and welcome them when they arrive.” (06:19 | Jane Bertch) “Some of your most creative ideas can be born out of pain and fear and suffering and hurt. I know this very well. Using my own personal circumstances, La Cuisine, I know, in hindsight, came at an inflection point in my life where I had been through traumas that left me feeling unfulfilled and uncertain of where I belonged in the world. And when you are there, in my mind, there’s nothing more wonderful and powerful than allowing yourself to dream.” (11:35 | Jane Bertch) “The best idea, the most wonderful idea, that extraordinary idea is the one that started. It’s the one that we took time to say, ‘I’m going to invest in you and I’m going to move forward and see where this gets me.’” (18:53 | Jane Bertch) “If you’re feeling stuck and you feel like you haven’t realized your dream yet, please, please, please pay attention to those little ideas that come in and out of your head every day… We think we can’t tell the future. I think we can. That’s what your ideas are. They’re visions of your future. The question is, are you gonna look close enough at it?” (20:46 | Jane Bertch) Links Connect with Jane Bertch: Website: www.janebertch.com Instagram @janebertch Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm…
“If you don’t know where you’re going, you cannot officially be lost.” In this episode, Jane Bertch reflects on the art of idea generation and how to spark inspiration when you feel stuck. She shares her personal journey of reinvention and offers a renewed perspective on those moments of uncertainty we all face. What if not knowing your next step isn’t failure, but an opportunity to pause and reset? Jane offers eight tips to generate ideas, from the power of mentoring and meaningful conversations to embracing creativity through reading and daydreaming. She reminds us that inspiration often comes from unexpected places, whether it’s a coffee chat with a friend or trying something completely new. How will you reinvent yourself as we go into 2025? Remember, you can rethink what’s possible because there’s a new you waiting around the corner! Quotes “If you don’t know where you’re going, you cannot officially be lost.” (03:15 | Jane Bertch) “Creativity plays such a crucial role in your confidence… If you don’t feel a sense of creativity, you are not able to reimagine yourself, you’re not able to reimagine your business, you’re not able to reimagine what you’d want to learn, you’re not able to reimagine your relationships. And if you’re not able to reimagine them, you lose confidence in your ability to do so.” (12:08 | Jane Bertch) “Allow yourself to daydream. Allow yourself a quiet moment where you just sit and imagine, where you close your eyes and you just imagine what could be. Ask yourself, ‘What do I want to be when I grow up?’—I hope you ask yourself that at any age. There's always an opportunity for an encore, for a number two performance, for a number three performance. The only restrictions we have, we put on ourselves.” (17:14 | Jane Bertch) “Some ideas are never meant to be seen through. They’re meant for you to test yourself, to test your conviction, to test your interests.” (19:32 | Jane Bertch) Links https://www.instagram.com/melrobbins/ https://www.instagram.com/iamtabithabrown/ https://www.instagram.com/brenebrown/ https://www.instagram.com/badassboz Connect with Jane Bertch: Website: www.janebertch.com Instagram @janebertch Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm…
