Resonance

It’s important to explore whether we like or try things because other people do, or because it actually strikes a chord with us as teachers. We need to give ourselves permission not to be infatuated with the same ideas, thoughts, pedagogy, etc as everyone else is. In this section I discuss the idea of giving ourselves permission not to like what everyone else does

Share your thoughts on resonating with the crowd – Do you ever find yourself not getting what the big deal is? Let me know in the comments!

The Flipped Classroom

The flipped classroom is the idea that students should spend their time with passive activities (lectures, etc) at home, and work on the interactive stuff (homework, activities) in school. Teachers have been able to achieve this in recent years by uploading their lectures to sites like YouTube and the Khan Academy.
Many teachers avoid trying out flipping their classes for fear of having to recreate lectures and not having enough time. I discuss some potential alternatives.
For those who do want to jump in, you can record yourself using something as simple as your iPhone, or you can use screen recording software like Screenflow or Camtasia.
Feel free to check out my tutorial on using Jing – from the makers of Camtasia

Non-Tech Rec
