A private prison company is eyeing ICE's new expansion efforts in New Jersey

Despite President Biden previously expressing opposition to private jails, his administration has laid the pathway for ICE to expand its immigration detention capacity at centers across the country. And some of these private detention centers have been under scrutiny by government watchdogs, activists and government officials for inhumane conditions. This all comes as President-elect Donald Trump continues to propose ways to carry out his pledged mass deportation.
