Good morning, weather watchers! This is your local forecast coming to you from the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio.
Let's break down what Mother Nature has in store for us today and the days ahead. We're looking at a mostly cloudy scene with temperatures climbing to a mild 49 degrees Fahrenheit. Expect some gusty west winds blowing between 8 to 14 miles per hour, with occasional gusts reaching up to 25 miles per hour.
Tonight, things get interesting with a 30 percent chance of showers after 5 in the morning. We'll see temperatures dropping to around 40 degrees Fahrenheit, with a light wind shifting from south to east.
Tuesday brings a full-on rain event with 100 percent precipitation probability. Expect temperatures near 51 degrees Fahrenheit and precipitation amounts between a quarter and half an inch. By Tuesday night, rain continues but starts tapering off, with temperatures dipping to around 35 degrees Fahrenheit.
New Year's Day brings a mixed bag - a chance of rain before 10 in the morning transitioning to potential snow between 10 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon. Temperatures will hover around a chilly 38 degrees Fahrenheit.
The rest of the week looks like a cold snap is heading our way. We're talking partly sunny to mostly cloudy conditions with highs struggling to reach the mid-30s and lows dropping into the teens and 20s. Sunday even offers a 40 percent chance of snow to spice things up.
