In today’s podcast I chat with Sophie Nash, Programme Manager of ‘Westonbirt’. Located in the Cotswolds in the County of Gloucestershire, the Arboretum is one of the most visited pay-to-enter attractions in South West England, and is ranked amongst some of the great gardens of the world.

Over the past 10 years, Westonbirt has seen considerable development taking its visitors from 300,000 to around 600,000.

Westonbirt is close to my heart as I worked there for many years as Marketing Manager.

We chat about where Westonbirt it is today and discuss some of the developments that have created a step change in getting closer to its mission, as well as getting closer to creating the elusive year-round visitor footfall.

Sophie shares some of her suggestions for what’s important to the success of a development project, from engaging staff, to managing member and visitor expectations.

She talks about the future for Westonbirt including discussion about the recently purchased land which could develop the visitor experience further.

As my last podcast episode for 2022, I’d like to wish you a lovely Christmas and a healthy, happy 2023.

Thanks so much for listening
