Get off the content treadmill! Do you feel like you need to come up with something new to post every single day? Are you living for the small engagements such as likes and comments but feel like you aren't getting any big wins. The obsession with producing great micro-content can often distract us from producing quality macro content OR putting in the must-have backend systems that will assure that our content can go to work for us in the future.
In this episode of Visibility & Connection I explain the importance of having a functional website or single landing page where you can send people who are curious about what you do and collect their information so that you can speak to them again in the future. I explain how short attention spans on social media create a lot of drive by traffic with potential audiences seeing your stuff, but not interacting with it in a meaningful way because their is no CTA attached to the content. We discuss how you can set yourself up and improve the results you are getting from social media marketing by creating a landing point where new audience members who are curious can be collected. I share the simple way that you can do this and why it is so important not to neglect this step if you want to have longterm success marketing your business online.
At the end of the episode, we go over a quick 3 thing checklist that you must have before you start posting more micro content.
1. a functional landing page ( single website page ) that describes who you are, what you do
2. a functioning email opt-in so that if people are curious and want to hear from you they can input their email and you can speak to them again directly via email marketing
3. a website domain / URL that is your "virtual real estate" where you can start to build your S.E.O.
Instead of spending all of your time online looking for instant gratification from social media posts make sure that you have that "next step" in place for people who wish to go deeper. Understand that if you want to be able to reach your audience again in the future you will have to have some system outside of social media where you can reach them because the algorithm does not show everything that you post on social to everyone who follows you. Be smart at the beginning so you don't end up regretting not taking these steps in the future.
