One of Steve’s clients is an attorney who wants to record case study videos and then make blogs of it and distribute it. Ray suggested making a longer horizontal video that can be transcribed and used as a blog entry with the YouTube video embedded on the blog page. Then make a vertical short that can be distributed to YouTube Shorts, Facebook Page Reels, Instagram Reels, and TikTok. If you want to administer the client’s TikTok, this article will explain how to do that: https://ads.tiktok.com/help/article/add-users-tiktok-business-center - It has to be vertical and uploaded from a phone. Just hit the + button. You need to friend your client’s profile on Facebook, and they can then make you an admin of their Facebook business page. Today on Video Marketing Madness –How YouTube Helps Online Marketing. Steve has a case study on improving Google rankings using YouTube as part of the mix. Steve’s trains YouTube channel is 12 years old, and he noticed Youtube was suggesting videos from folks he subscribed to way back way. All had given up on their channel years ago, and some of them were big names. It appears YouTube is not in the marketing mix. Steve found using YouTube videos as part of the mix pushed up Google Business Profiles(GBP) and website blog posts. A lawn care service went from #23 to #8, and website blog posts rank higher when a video is embedded. Steve starts by opening up a channel under the Google account with the client’s Google Business Profile. He phone verifies and optimizes it. Copy for the 1000-word blog and the 250-word GBP posts match the requirements for the new Google “Helpful Content” algorithm. The video is the same title as the post and the name of the business and the city and state. The copy for the 60-second video comes from the Google Business Profile post. The description in the video includes the video title, phone number, the Google Maps URL, website URL, and a citation. Also included is the GBP post copy, links to 5-star reviews, and driving directions to all the communities surrounding the client’s location. After that, he posts the copy to the GBP and adds the YouYube URL. He also uploads the video to the post and shares it on social media. Then Steve adds the GPB post URL to the video description. Today on Video Marketing Madness –The Importance of Online Reviews. Ray tells us how to get online reviews and why. Google, Facebook, and Yelp are the top three. Remember to ask for a video review and you can post that on all your social media, including your Google Business Profile. You need to get online reviews because folks will gravitate to businesses with lots of 5-star reviews, and they need to be recent as well. Also, it’s a ranking factor with Google Business Profiles. Start by having good customer service and then ask for reviews. With his escape room business, Ray hands out cards with a code that takes folks to his Google Business Profile. He incentivizes employees by giving them $5 for every review that mentions their name. Pay attention to Facebook and Yelp. Ray is not crazy about Yelp, but iPhones and Alexa default to it, so you have to have it. If you don’t have them, you won’t get all the tools and be able to verify your channel. Canva is a free tool for doing channel art. -Add sections on the home page. Typically they are playlists you have created. Include citations in the playlists. -Fill out the “About” section and include a citation. Add an email address and links: website, Facebook, GMB, LinkedIn, appointment link, etc. -Come up with a channel name that describes what you do -Phone verify the channel -In the creator studio, go to “Settings” and enable everything like custom thumbnails, YouTube Live, and the branding watermark. In addition, he does things like food drives where a person brings a non-perishable food item to get a discount. People who otherwise don’t notice his posts on Facebook and Nextdoor take notice when he posts about the food drives. Today on Video Marketing Madness – Lighting for Videos. Ray has all kinds of tips lighting tips for in-studio and in the field. Most folks are shooting vids on their iPhone. It has great digital quality, but it also has a small aperture. So, you need good lighting. Outdoors, the sun is all you need. But don’t shoot with the sun behind the talent. Early morning and late afternoon are the best times to shoot. Indoors, the ambient florescent lighting in offices is probably good enough, but your video will look flat and you’ll have some color balance issues. It’s best to bring your own lighting. Movo has some good, portable LED lights. For talking head videos, ring lights are good. In-studio, you want three-point lighting: fill, key and backlight and you might want to add a fourth light for the background. If you don’t have them, you won’t get all the tools and be able to verify your channel. Include citations in the playlists. -Fill out the “About” section and include a citation.
