eThekwini Municipality postpones election of new mayor following the ANC's redeployment of embattled former mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda

The eThekwini Municipal council has postponed the election of a new mayor after embattled former mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda was redeployed to the National Council of Provinces by the African National Congress after the 2024 general elections. Kaunda faced scriticism from opposition parties following his handling of the aftermath of the deadly 2022 floods, which left communities without water for prolonged periods of time and resulted in the closure of some of the metro's beaches after tests revealed high E.coli readings. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC News reporter, Dries Liebenberg.
