This week on #TubtaNabadda, we discuss the important role of peace and communal harmony as promoted by the Holy Month Ramadan – a period of reflection, compassion and care for one another. In the first segment of the programme, we speak with Abdiweli Yahye, a representative of Afuri Walal, a local youth organization in Mogadishu, about how charity for those in need can reinforce peace and social cohesion. He shares with us some amazing stories about the values of Ramadan, and how these values reinforce unity among families and wider communities. In the second segment of the programme, we hear from Fatuma Ali of the Somali Girls Rights Development Organization (SGRDO) in South West State. She tells us how respecting and embracing diversity can promote peace among communities, and how helping poor people during Ramadan is a moral duty in line with tenants of Islam.
