What sorrow could come with Christmas? Amidst the celebration of God taking on flesh in the person of Jesus Christ, there is a reality that we all deal with: life doesn't stop. For some, there is extra pain during the holiday season because of a loss experienced in the past year; for others, that may come later once the adrenaline of the Christmas season has passed. We see in Matthew that this reality exists even at the birth of Christ. Christ has come, but that does not mean sin and evil in the world cease to exist. Herod does not like the idea of a king invading his space and will go to evil extremes to prevent his power from being challenged. Our joy as Christians is not that everything in our lives will be perfect but that Christ has promised to be with us through it all!…
Join us as we delve into the deeper meaning of Christmas, exploring how the Apostle John narrates the arrival of Christ in a unique way. Unlike the traditional accounts that focus on Mary, Joseph, and the nativity scene, John's Gospel zeroes in on the true essence of the season – the Word becoming flesh and dwelling among us. Discover the profound theological insights into why Christmas is not just about a miraculous birth but about the divine presence among humanity.…

As Paul did for the Philippian church, we are also called to encourage and support one another, live sacrificially, and remain steadfast in our faith journey.…

It emphasizes gentleness, trust in God's promises, and the power of prayer as key elements for maintaining harmony and joy within the church body. Ultimately, this episode encourages us to align our thoughts and actions with God's teachings, leading to true rejoicing, irrespective of external situations. Learn to ground your joy in unchangeable divine promises rather than fleeting earthly circumstances.…
"Their end is their destruction," Paul writes. What a stark phrase, yet he writes it with tears in his eyes. Paul wants to warn the church he loves that there is indeed a way that leads to destruction, but it is not their way.
What does it look like to think like a mature Christian? That is a question many have surely asked, but I think for some, the answer Paul gives is a bit surprising. It has little to do with what you have done or what you know but more to do with where you are going.
What does the perfect spiritual resume look like in your mind? Whatever it is, the apostle Paul's was better. Yet, we find in this passage that Paul "counts it all as loss." Clinging not to what he does right or what he does wrong but to Christ alone.
What joy is there in working? in Obedience? Most of us will spend our lives trying to get to a place where we can work less and do whatever we'd like to do. Paul has a very different take on the Christ-centered life, more than that, he knows that joy is not found in those things.
