Ti20 Off the Boards: Seth Henigan Interview
Manage episode 328891011 series 2579460
In this episode of Off the Boards, we are joined by Memphis Tiger QB1, Seth Henigan.
Seth is a true sophomore from Denton, Texas and comes into this year with a lot of momentum on his side. Last year, as a true freshman, Seth rocketed up the Tiger record books with his individual performance. Seth threw for 3,322 yard and 25 touchdowns. At the conclusion of the 2021 season Seth was named to the Freshman All-American team.
In this episode, Seth talks about the transition from high school to college football and how his work ethic helped him adjust well to the college life. Seth describes the process of competing for the starting job during spring and fall camp in 2021, and how he was able to come out and start the year as the starting quarterback. Seth talked about the disappointment he felt, even during the individual success he achieved, because of the overall play of the team. Seth attributed the struggles Memphis had last year to the lack of ball control and turnovers. Seth described how the team came out of the 2021 season with a renewed sense of righting the ship and re-establishing the Tigers to the place they all feel the Tiger football team should be.
In the second segment, Seth talks about the quarterback competition with Grant Gunnell going into the 2022 spring football camp. Seth describes his mentality on the "competition" and how he didn't view it as competition, but as an opportunity to get better as a player. Now that Seth has his QB1 position solidified coming out of spring football, he spoke about he has assumed more of a leadership role with the team, and how the players are fully on board with him as the starter.
To end the episode Seth talks about his relationship with new offensive coordinator, Tim Cramsey, and the relationship they have built over the past few months. He shares the main differences between Cramsey and Kevin Johns and the trust that is being built between the quarterback and the coach.
