Waddup WORLD and Welcome back to The WORLDs iLLEST Podcast Through My Eyes with 1 Eyed Willie. Episode 6: UNTOLD HEROES Feat. John "BeGreat" Stewart. Inside this episode John and I talk about his upcoming book series "Untold Heroes". The Untold Heroes book series highlights little know yet extraordinary black figures in world history. In honor of Black History Month John wanted to kick off a campaign and grown an organic buzz around the book and I felt this would be a great episode for my platform to help push in any way possible.
John details growing up in Greensboro, North Carolina where he was lucky enough to grow up rich enough to be the poorest person in his neighborhood but was able to attend a diverse high school with rich white kids with a lot of readily available resources. While growing up John began to grow a love for history which is something he got from his father who loved WWII history. John would grow a liking for Egyptian, Greek, and Roman history and would find himself in the library reading the different myths.
Like most of our high schools John would learn about the same people during Black History month such as George Washington Carver, Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, the Civil Rights movement etc. John's parents had some books call "The Black Encyclopedia's" where he would find a lot of gems. This gave John the idea for the his book Untold Heroes.
John, his co-author and illustrator are about 85% complete with Untold Heroes and plan to release the book later this year. They have a Kickstarter and currently have the book on pre-order/ Please support John, his team and this amazing book Untold Heroes!
