This just might be one of my favorite episodes of the season so far. In the headlines on #TheUpdate this Friday, the potent rush-hour rainstorm has swamped the New York metropolitan area. The deluge shut down swaths of the subway system, flooded some streets and highways, and delayed flights into LaGuardia Airport. U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, a centrist Democrat and champion of liberal causes who was elected to the Senate in 1992 and broke gender barriers throughout her long career in local and national politics, has died. She was 90. A driver who took an 18-wheel tractor-trailer inside a tunnel between Manhattan and Brooklyn despite height restriction warnings got wedged in. And a Phillies fan and his emotional support alligator were denied entrance to watch Philadelphia host Pittsburgh. 🐊⚾
