Could this be the ice-cold truth? A former cruise singer is explaining the eerie reason why cruise lines have free ice cream parties for passengers on board. In the headlines on #TheUpdate this Friday, the great public debate over congestion pricing begins. Between bridge and tunnel tolls and parking fees, it can already cost a mint to drive a car into Manhattan. Is forking over another $15 enough to get people out of their cars and onto mass transit? That’s the hope among some New York officials. Morning commutes on the A line were severely delayed Thursday after a train conductor was slashed in the neck, with transit officials blaming union members for disrupting service as they demanded safer working conditions. And in Washington, Congress has passed another short-term spending measure that would keep one set of federal agencies operating through March 8 and another set through March 22.
