The Shore Line presents: Air adventures and historical aircraft at Liberty Aviation Museum
Manage episode 435047586 series 3549133
In this episode, we take off for a high-flying adventure with Port Clinton’s Liberty Aviation Museum. One of the region’s most loved year-round attractions, this museum is home to historical, operational aircraft and vehicles, as well as several unique collections. Joining us on the podcast today is the museum’s communications and marketing coordinator, Jim Priebe. Jim shares how a certain collection of television memorabilia, along with other interesting organizational stories, lured him out of retirement and into promoting this gem of a facility. We talk about the museum’s exhibits, including the full-scale restoration project of a historical aircraft with ties to the islands – a Ford Tri-motor, aka a “Tin Goose.” Being adjacent to the Erie-Ottawa International Airport has its advantages, as historical aircraft from other organizations often visit, and even offer flight experiences to the public. The museum also hosts many special events throughout the year including the upcoming annual Military Show on September 7-8. The facility is also home to the region’s only authentic 1950’s-era diner, now known as the Tin Goose Diner, serving up tasty breakfasts, burgers, and milkshakes.
