With the new season of the Crown stirring up memories of Diana’s romance with Dodi al-Fayed and the summer they spent together before their tragic deaths, we are very lucky to have Michael Cole on the podcast today.

He was a board member of Mohamed Al-Fayed’s companies in the UK and a personal friend of the Al-Fayed family. As a former BBC reporter and royal correspondent he also represented the family in public many times. He knew both Dodi and Diana well and was a first hand witness to everything that happened that summer.

His views of the love affair, their alleged engagement, the role played by his friend Mohamed Al-Fayed, and his close relationship with Henri Paul, the driver on that fateful night, will surprise many people.
