“Small, seemingly silly commitments like turning off my phone for an hour and a half every night have helped me be more present and recapture the pure joy of everyday moments.” – Ian Simkins

About Ian Simkins:

Ian grew up in a crowded home outside Detroit as the oldest of seven homeschooled children. They were part of Fairlane Alliance Church, a Christian and Missionary Alliance church, where they discovered their love for ministry and gave their first sermon at the age of 16. Despite initially planning to move to a warmer coast and study music or psychology, he eventually answered God's call to study Youth Ministry and Adolescent Studies at Judson University in 2003.

After college, Ian served in northern India, an experience that profoundly impacted him. He then became the Pastor of Student Ministries at Poplar Creek Church. When the church faced challenging times in 2010, he was asked to step into the role of Lead Pastor, despite his lack of experience. Over the next six years, the church thrived, and he met and married her wife, Katie.

In 2016, he became the Teaching Pastor at Community Christian Church in Chicagoland and started hosting a radio show called The Common Good. In 2021, Ian felt led to a new role as the Lead Pastor of Teaching and Vision at The Bridge, a church near Nashville, TN. Ian also has three young sons named Owen, Redmond, and Ezra.
