Greg Holder joins Michelle to discuss a new free, online training called Foundations: Building the Safest Dental Visit to help raise awareness of the importance of infection prevention and control year-round. The CDC is partnering with OSAP to increase the reach and utility of this training, and rolling it out during Dental Infection Control Awareness Month is an added bonus! OSAP will provide free dental continuing education credit hours for learners who complete the Foundations training.

Greg Holder serves as a Policy Analyst at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion in the Division of Oral Health, where he analyzes state and local legislation and other health policy to determine its impact on oral health, the use of infection prevention guidelines, and responds to public inquiries.

Episode Highlights:

Quotes:

“We identified OSAP as an early partner to this.”

“The modules are designed so they can be taken an hour at a time.”

“This is a great partnership and chance for us to support CDC.”

“The Bureau of Labor estimates 1 Million dental professionals.”

“This is a good way to train your Infection Control Coordinator.”

“Members of the public should be very interested in the infection control in their dental setting.”

“When they tell you to close down on the saliva ejector, you should not close down, and they should not be telling you to close down.”

“Patient education is very important.”

“Take the training early and often.”

“Go get your vaccine, that is a CDC recommendation, I am proud to say.”

“If you ever ask a question I’m on the other end of that inbox helping to write that response for you.”
