The 5 Second Rule

Today I want to share with you something I heard from Mel Robbins, the
is an American on-air CNN commentator, television host, life coach,
author, motivational speaker, contributing editor for Success.

I first heard Mel talk about this method she created on a interview she did
with Tom Bilyeu of Impact Theory, which you have heard me mention how much
I love listening to that show!

Mel talked about how she discovered what she calls “The 5 Second Rule” and
no this is not where you drop some food on the ground and you only have
5 seconds to where you can still eat it.

This is a very simple and powerful method that Mel discovered where when she
is faced with taking action on something, she will count backwards from
5 to 1….5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 and then she will spring into action.

The amazing thing that Mel talks about, is that the when the brain senses
any hesitation, it sends a warning signal to stop as a way to protect you.

For example Mel says your brain will analyze a stuation where you may hesitate
and it wil say, “Hey you didn’t hesitate when you put you brushed your teeth
this morning or you didn’t hesitate when you put your shoes on or decide what
coffe to drink, but to make that sales call, you hesitated so it must be
something to be afraid of and let’s not do that.

By counting backwards from 5, you interupt the brains pattern of thinking and
bring yourself to the present.

So how you can apply this in your online business is anytime you are trying to
do something that you are not motivated to do or may scare you, like making a
call, talking to someone you want to interview, doing a paid advertising
campaign, hiring an outsourcer…whatever it may be, Count backwards from 5 to
1 and then do it.

Mel’s analogy is like launching a rocket, you are literally launching yourself
into action.

As I always say. Please impliment this in your business and your life and do
