Pull out your cups and take a big sip as we wrap our vampire miniseries with the 2022 short film First Blood. This short, written and directed by Olivia Loccisano, is sparse on dialogue but not on blood, beauty or story.

Since this film prominently features a first period, we discuss periods, menstruation and some of the problems medicine and society writ large have with the uterus and the female reproductive system and the health issues largely affected people assigned female at birth. One such issue is the presence of lead and arsenic in major tampon brands and the large lack of mainstream media discussion. You can read more here.
This week, Victor recommends the Holdovers (2023), an Alexander Payne film about three people in a boarding school over a holiday break.
Carlos recommends Harley Quinn (2019- )and the new spinoff Kite Man: Hell Yeah! (2024) fun adult comedies telling a fun and different tale of the DC universe.
We also jointly recommend What We Do in the Shadows (2019- ) to keep the vampire theme going. The show, in the universe of the 2014 film of the same name follows a group of vampires in Staten Island and their adventures captured in a mockumentary style.
