We had the pleasure of having guest David Bruton Jr, on the podcast to share his story and the story of Bruton's Books. The foundation is geared towards childhood literacy, more specifically K-3 grade. Bruton’s books has partnerships with United Way in both Denver, CO & Dayton, OH. They have been able to open up a reading area in an elementary school in Aurora, as well as donate 20,000 books to elementary schools throughout Denver and another 30,000 throughout Dayton. The foundation has also donated over $30k in its efforts to make books and tutors more accessible to the youth in both Denver & Dayton!

At Beyond The Court, basketball is our first love, but we support and encourage all student-athletes, across the board. According to the NCAA, of the student-athletes participating in college sports, less than 2% become professional athletes. My Density Matters empowers women to learn their breast density and cancer risk. Unfortunately, most women are unaware that dense breast tissue is a risk for breast cancer, and standard screening methods will find less than half of all cancers. We want every woman to know. My Density Matters was founded by Leslie Ferris Yerger, diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer in November of 2017, two months after an 'all clear' mammogram and ultrasound. Her cancer was hiding in dense breast tissue, left undetected to grow and spread. Leslie wishes she knew this before her breast cancer diagnosis, and she doesn't want her story to become your story. Matt is the Executive Director of Just a Pair of Shoes nonprofit! Just a Pair of Shoes: is an Ohio-based nonprofit organization focused on one mission: to put quality name brand shoes on the feet of young students, in an effort to boost confidence and create a sense of belonging. We believes that giving a student a great pair of shoes does wonders for their self esteem, happiness, and sense of belonging. By having a pair of shoes they are excited to wear, during an important stage of their development, students can go through their day with a sense of pride concerning both the shoes on their feet and the opportunities ahead of them. A positive mindset manifested at a young age builds the foundation for success, extending into adulthood. By affirming their commitments to their community and to themselves, Just a Pair of Shoes believes and encourages young students to achieve anything they put their minds to while striving to overcome life’s obstacles.
