082 White Supremacy in Non-Profits & Feminist Approaches to International Development with Emily Bove
Manage episode 312263343 series 3231442
Happy Black History Month! Since episode 053 (Dear White Listeners) I’ve been thinking and reading about anti-racism. In non-profits in particular and this tension between helping others, but not following a white savior model. So today’s guest has some really interesting thoughts on this.
Today we are talking all things international development, white supremacy in non-profits, and feminism. We talk about why feminist approaches to international development matter, how white supremacy manifests itself in non-profits, how women can be their own biggest enemies for disrupting gender stereotypes, and advice for those going into international development.
ABOUT EMILY BOVE
Emily Bove is a seasoned executive leader within the global women’s rights movement and development community, currently serving at the Executive Director of the Batonga Foundation. The Batonga Foundation’s mission is to equip the hardest-to-reach girls and women with knowledge and skills to be agents of change in their own lives and communities. She has been recognized for her visionary leadership and constant support of grassroots-led and feminist programming, as well as her strong experience in movement-building, collaborative leadership and philanthropy.
