Dr. Jay Patel was born in London, England. He moved to Alberta at the age of 2 where he grew up in Medicine Hat. He graduated high school from St. John’s Ravenscourt in Winnipeg, MB. He studied at the University of Alberta where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Math and Physics. He continued his education in Ireland, where he studied Dentistry at the University College Cork.
He continued to work in Ireland and the UK for 2 years before attending the University of Manitoba where he obtained his DMD. He now lives in SE Calgary, where he works as a dentist in his new practice, Outdoor Dental. Jay opened a second office in 2020 just prior to the pandemic and acquired a 3rd location in 2022.
Dr. Patel got married in 2013 to the wonderful Caryn Patel in Banff, AB. They now have 2 daughters who are 7.5 and 6 years old. Together as a family they are passionate about traveling, hiking, biking, skiing, snowboarding, and hockey…Just about anything to do with the outdoors, hence the name of his dental practice. Jay also enjoys movies, DIY projects, and throwing backyard BBQ’s.
He was the first dentist in Calgary to offer the Solea Laser in 2017 and incorporated Solea Sleep treatment in 2021. Dr. Patel aims to provide Calgarians with comprehensive oral health, including airway and a focus on overall health. A core value of his office is preventive care with a focus on education, preventing diseases and achieving effective dental results through dental technology. Dr. Patel believes technology can dramatically improve the patient experience and has built his practice around Solea and other technology that provide exceptional dental care that is comfortable and efficient, changing the way patients experience dental care.
