The War and Treaty’s Michael and Tanya Trotter grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington, DC, respectively, but both have family roots in the South. They also grew up in the musical traditions of their churches – Tanya in the Black Baptist Church and Michael in the Seventh Day Adventist Church – where they learned the power of song to move people. After becoming a father at a very young age, Michael eventually joined the armed forces and served in Iraq and Germany, where he took up songwriting as a way of dealing with his experiences there. Meanwhile Tanya embarked on a singing and acting career after a breakthrough appearance in Sister Act 2 alongside Whoopi Goldberg and Lauryn Hill. Now, after a long and sometimes traumatic journey, Michael and Tanya are married, touring, winning all sorts of awards, and set to release their fifth album together, and their fourth as The War and Treaty. Sid talks to Michael and Tanya about the new record, Plus One , as well as their collaboration with Miranda Lambert, what it was like to record at FAME studios in Muscle Shoals, and how they’re blending country, soul, gospel, and R&B. Did 2 million people really leave Egypt in the Exodus as the census numbers from the books of Exodus and Numbers really suggest? Why haven't archaeologists found any evidence in the "wilderness" for such an enormous migration of Israelites out of Egypt? Is the Bible just wrong or is there another way of understanding the biblical and archaeological evidence? If you're interested in this topic, tune in for this episode of the Bible Gumshoe Podcast.…
Critical scholarship has boldly stated that there is no evidence whatsoever to confirm the biblical account of Israel's exodus from the land of Egypt under Moses. This is the first of three episodes that explore the merits of three principal objections to the historicity and reliability of the biblical account of the exodus. In this episode, we set forth the critical challenge to the Bible's account and deal with one of three principal objections. The first objection is that nowhere in the annals of Egyptian history do we find independent confirmation of the Bible's story. Is this true? What does it tell us about the reliability of the exodus?…
Did three kings from the east come to worship the baby Jesus when he was born? Did their gifts have special prophetic meaning for his life and ministry? Or, is this story that we heard as kids and saw in picture Bibles more fiction than fact? On this Christmas edition of the Bible Gumshoe podcast, we explore what's really going on in Matthew 2:1-12 and the meaning behind the wisemen from the east and the star that led them.…

Did you ever wonder how the story of Satan's fall got its start? Bet you thought it came from the Bible. Well, if you did, you might be surprised to learn about this story's murky history. It's really a hot affair, if you get my drift.
In this episode of the Bible Gumshoe Podcast, we continue to explore the origins of Satan in the Bible, looking at Genesis 3. Did Eve really talk to a snake? Did animals talk before the fall? Well, come join us for a journey back to the beginning to see what the Bible really teaches.

In this episode, we look at the historical contribution of Desierius Erasmus of Rotterdam to the development of the Bible and Bible translation. Without this man and his work, not only would there not have been a Protestant Reformation (as we know it) but it is very likely that the history of the development of the Bible and Bible translation would have been radically different.…
Many people don't realize that the historical fate of the Bible actually depended upon a series of political and military events which were completely outside of the Church's control. To celebrate the month of the Bible, we're looking at the Bible's history and origins.
