When a young Eva Kollisch arrives as a refugee in New York in 1940, she finds a community among socialists who share her values and idealism. She soon discovers ‘the cause’ isn’t as idyllic as it seems. Little does she know this is the beginning of a lifelong commitment to activism and her determination to create radical change in ways that include belonging, love and one's full self. In addition to Eva Kollisch’s memoirs Girl in Movement (2000) and The Ground Under My Feet (2014), LBI’s collections include an oral history interview with Eva conducted in 2014 and the papers of Eva’s mother, poet Margarete Kolllisch, which document Eva’s childhood experience on the Kindertransport. This week sophomore forward Brooke Coffey joins the podcast to discuss her first year at Lindenwood University and steps us through the exciting day when ESPN U came to St. Charles for the LU v University of Southern Indiana game. In our 'behind-the-scenes part of the show, Brook talks about DI basketball bus rides! Coach Eagan talks about the some of the many special attributes of this year's team. She also discusses the depth of the bench and player rotations she is able to use with such a strong bench. We look at the year-to-date Ohio Valley Conference statistics and talk about where LU is strong and a couple of areas to work on. Coach Eagan invites sophomore guard Gracy Wernli to the podcast. Gracy share many of her first-year experiences at Lindenwood University - including her interest in pursuing medical school after her time at LU. Coach Eagan discusses the methodical approach her team has used throughout their OVC games. We also discussed some coaching tips on how she emphasizes rebound block outs and spacing the floor. LU WBB has their final two OVC home games this Thursday and Friday; with the final four games on the road. Coach Eagan discusses the team's success in the OVC so far this season. Her Lady Lions are 8-0 at home, but play 4 of the final 6 conference games on the road.. She also discusses Justis Odom's evolution to be one of the best true centers in the OVC this year and how the 'help-side' defense has evolved as the season progresses. Coach Eagan also shares a moving story about the team's student manager, Payton Toussaint - and all of the many tasks Payton does for the team. Finally, news came out on Monday that ESPN U will be on the LU campus on Saturday, February 15th at 11:00 a.m. central time. A large crowd is expected for the game in the Hyland Arena. LU will face defending OVC champion University of Southern Indiana.…
