I have helped a family hold their Local Authority (Council) accountable for unlawful charges on their Council Tax Bill. My client contacted my charity for assistance as their local authority was charging excessive amounts unlawfully, placing our client in hardship, which could have led to 'Court Summons', risking their home, and eviction. I reviewed the Council Tax Bill and the documents provided. I had noted the Local Authorities mistakes as follows: ❌ 1. Had not applied the 'Single Persons Occupancy Rate' for two years. ❌ 2. Had unlawful 'Summons & Court Costs' charges were applied when no case had been conducted.
