Steps to the Spirit

The next three lines in the Serenity Prayer, (I’ve noted them below), are, to me, the definition of step number three in the 12-step program.

Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,

I don’t believe my newfound union and surrender could be described in a better way than this. I am saying in simple and direct terms, “God, I am going to let You direct my life, as best I can.” I hope you appreciate, as I do, great importance of this simple statement. As you will see you see in my new book, titled “3”, (available on Amazon around March or April of 2024), I have developed a new theological system called Mystical Interrelational Trinitarianism, (MIT for short). I know it is quite a mouthful of words, but the essence of the book is that our relationship with God is an extremely simple one. It may take some complicated, human, steps in order to get to the place of true surrender, but once that happens, our relationship with God and our Spirit is more simple than we could ever have imagined. In theory, what could be simpler than allowing God to take over completely? This is what we ask, and do, in the third step. We say the ultimate, eternal, and all encompassing, “yes” to God. The implications that accompany this “yes” are, for the most part, not even understandable by us. We are not able, at first, to completely live our lives as children of God in the beginning. We know that something dramatic and all encompassing has happened to us. Sometimes it is both beautiful and terrifying to realize I have made this surrender. However, in time, we shall learn to appreciate the beauty of this surrender and every moment of every day.
