Why? For profit, mostly. It's all about an audience, as so much of evangelicalism is today. And because reducing the faith to silly symbolism, promises of secret knowledge or experiences, or even date-setting appeals to the marginal and those who feel marginalized or in need of attention in their corner of the faith. We will take a look at 40 years of fads, what it tells us about our expectations of Christianity, and how to get off the merry-go-round of Christian nonsense and get real about faith at any cost.
